I know it's late into January, but I still wanted to share my favourite skincare products of 2017!

I saw on VoucherCodes that there was an offer to get £50 worth of product for £25 from The Body Shop and I decided to take advantage of this.

I've always stuck to a strict skincare routine but in the past 3 months I've become even more interested in skincare products. Because of this my skin is the best it has ever been and I would like to sing these products' praises!

July Favourites

July favourites time! I didn't do a favourites in June so it is about time I did one.


Firstly I'd like to talk about Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. I have had this book for years but only just got round to reading it. I wish I read it sooner! I was one of those books that I couldn't put down and stayed up at all hours reading. I won't spoil it for you but I will say that it is a fantasy book with angels and chimeras. I'm currently reading the last book in the trilogy.


Next is The Body Shop Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream which you've possibly seen my review on recently. I have been using it every night before bed and it really works to get rid of the dry patches on my face! Everyday I wake up with soft, nourished skin.


Another product from The Body Shop is the Tea Tree Clearing Toner. I have use this before but went back to it recently and I had forgotten how good it is at cleaning off the remains of make up after cleansing. I love The Body Shop tea tree range for my acne-prone skin!


Then we have the only make up item of this month which is Urban Decay De-Slick Make Up Setting Spray. I have been particularly loving this because it has been so damn hot! When it is hot I get worried about my make up melting off and me sweating so I use this and it does a good job at keeping my make up on. No more melting make up in the heat for me! I love to take this abroad with me too and will be taking it to Tenerife with me.

Finally I thought I'd mention the game Pokemon Go. You've probably already heard loads about it but as an avid Pokemon fan I downloaded this as soon as I could and have been playing it ever since. It is so fun to hunt down and catch Pokemon and being able to play against others in the Pokemon Gym! You may be sick of hearing about this but I really do think you should give it a go if you have not already.

Empties #13

Last month was Empties #12 which means it is time for Empties #13!


At the beginning of June I went travelling for 2 weeks so of course I needed a can of Batiste dry shampoo to see me through it! This is a 100ml travel size too which means I could bring it on board the plane and it not take up too much room.


The Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturiser is something I have enjoyed using for years, whether this one or the grapefruit one, as it is good for acne prone skin. It is light, fresh and good for day moisturiser that will soak in quickly so you can start applying your make up!


Just over a year ago I was sent the Amphora Aromatics Seaweed & Aloe Refreshing Eye Gel to review. My favourite way to use this was to help remove my make up. You can click on the name of the product to learn more about it and my opinion!


Another seaweed product (an unintentional theme there!) is The Body Shop Pore-Cleansing Facial Exfoliator. I used this in the shower only to exfoliate my face. I liked this product as it was a great exfoliant however it would sting my eyes a bit even if the product wasn't near them! The packaging of this has now changed.


Lastly is an Impulse body spray in the scent 'Be Surprised' Violets & Red Fruit. This is just one of your standard cheap body sprays that run out in a month or less. I don't like to use this on its own but rather in companion with perfume.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream

You may remember that in April I reviewed The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Night Cream. Since then I have finished the pot and needed a new moisturiser to use at night. For that, I chose The Body Shop Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream. I was actually intending on buying the night cream but accidentally bought this one without realising! Still, I've been using it every day and would like to let you know my feelings on it.

The Vitamin E range is for all types of skin but it's best skin type is for dry skin. Vitamin E is perfect for nourshing dry skin with 48hr moisture infusion. This product also has shea butter and aloe vera which also encourage the moisturising benefits. In addition it has hyaluronic acid which plumps the skin. It is to be used after cleansing and toning the skin. 

On the website The Body Shop describe this as a day moisturiser. However, because it's quite thick I prefer to use it as a night cream which I have been doing every night. I just don't enjoy using thick formulas in the day time! I have read reviews that it is a good base for make up so I doubt that it would be an issue for everyone. Even though it is a thick formula it is certainly not greasy and doesn't take too long to absorb.

Although I was enjoying using the Aloe Night Cream for my sensitive skin issues, I wanted to try this out because my skin was going through a stage of being rather dry. My chin was dry, my neck was dry and my under eyes were calling me havoc! I'm not even exaggerating, it only took 2 DAYS of using this cream for my dry patches to go away! I was totally amazed by it. It didn't sting to use around my eyes so I could slather it on my eyelids and under eyes. Every day I wake up with super soft skin and what were dry patches are now smooth areas of skin that don't show up texture when I apply make up. It hasn't broke me out or anything either which is a bonus.

This product is actually one of The Body Shop's best selling skincare products and even won a Vogue 100 Beauty Wall of Fame Award. So as you can tell, it's pretty popular! I can totally see why people like it so much. The price tag is £12.00 which I think is a fair enough price and not too expensive, especially when The Body Shop constantly have sales going on.

If you suffer from dry skin I really recommend this product and the Vitamin E range in general. I have already raved about this to people on Twitter!

Skincare | My Body Scrubs Collection

Last week I shared with you my face mask collection. Today, I thought I would show you my, slightly larger, body scrub collection. The main time I like to use body scrubs is before I shave to exfoliate the dead skin cells and allow a closer and cleaner shave.

• The Body Shop Vanilla Bliss Body Polish- I like the smell of this as it really does smell like vanilla. The body polishes are in quite large bottles so will probably last a long time.

• The Body Shop Cranberry Body Polish- I believe this was a Christmas limited edition one that I am still yet to use! I don't normally eat cranberries or have them in the house but I do like the smell.

• The Body Shop Strawberry Body Polish- I sometimes have an issue with strawberry scented products because a lot of time I find they smell really fake and synthetic. However, this one does not smell synthetic to me and I really like it! 

• The Body Shop British Rose Scrub Sample- This is a sample of the British Rose Scrub which was brought out for Mother's Day this year. I had a hand massage done with the range and the scrub really did make my hands feel soft so I'm looking forward to using my sample. I'm going on holiday so will probably bring it with me!

• The Body Shop Coconut Body Scrub x2- I've got two of these (one in the picture and one in my shower) as I specifically asked for it for Christmas. Like the cranberry one I don't ever eat coconut but enjoy the smell. I also particularly like this scrub as it's thick and creamy. I would recommend it for sensitive and/or dry skin.

• Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub- The only non-The Body Shop product! I recently spoke about the body spray of this but I've also got the scrub. Because of the sugary lime smell I bet this would be invigorating for a morning shower and feel nice on a hot, stuffy day.

I should probably also mention the difference between The Body Shop body polishes and body scrubs. The body polishes are in the form of a shower gel as well so foam up like a shower gel. They are more gentle than the body scrubs because they're literally scrubs and not gels.

Skincare | My Face Mask Collection

In April I shared with you guys my body butters, creams and lotions collection so today I thought I would bring you my face mask collection. My face mask collection certainly isn't as big as my body butter collection though! I've mostly used Lush face masks before which if you've used them then you know they go out of date after a week or so, hence why they aren't here! For the record I have sensitive skin so please note that if you have sensitive skin I do find all of these masks to be gentle for that.

• Superdrug Aloe Vera Mud Mask- My sister bought me this for Christmas and I've been using it once a week on and off since. It is for normal to combination skin and aims to calm, replenish moisture, cleanse and purify pores. I like mud masks as the tightening sensation really makes it feel like it's doing something for your pores. I don't find it drying and believe it does the job. I use this all over my face.

• The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask x2- If you read The Body Shop Tea Tree Edit you would know that I love the tea tree range! This mask is for blemished skin and works to treat and minimise breakouts. I have used this for years and either use it on my whole face or a really bad break out. Works a treat!

• InstaNatural Dead Sea Mud Mask*- This is a huuuge tub! This is another mud mask which actually comes from the Dead Sea. It works to absorb excess oil, dirt, treat acne, pimples, blackheads and even your skin's complexion. What a mouthful! This mask is very drying and feels kind of itchy but it really does change your skin. A little goes a long way and I know this definitely won't be running empty any time soon.

• Proactiv+ Skin Purifying Face Mask*- This little tube comes with other Proactiv+ products which contain salicylic acid. The point of the mask is to fight blemishes, prevent break outs and refine pours. It is definitely something to consider if other treatments aren't helping get rid of those pesky spots. I don't normally use this all over my face as I find salicylic acid quite drying and instead like to use it in select areas where I am suffering from acne.

The Body Shop Event | Pinita Colada

Hello all!

You may remember that a couple of months ago I went to an event at The Body Shop @ Cribbs Causeway which was their first event!


Well, last week they held another event to celebrate their new Pinita Colada range; a summer range with a Pina Colada scent.

On arrival we were greeted with pretty little pin trays with popcorn and a cookie on, as well as a drink. The drink was Pina Colada juice and even the popcorn was Pina Colada flavoured! It sounds wrong but it is surprisingly nice. 

Next I had a hand massage with the Pinita Colada collection under their taps. I had my hand exfoliated and moisturised which made my hand smell lovely and my skin looked brighter. Not to mention relaxed! I particularly liked the Pinita Colada Body Sorbet as it feels much lighter and absorbs faster than a body butter yet still moisturises all the same. This is probably my favourite part of their events.

Afterwards I went ahead and had my make up consultation. I wanted to know more about their blushers so the make up expert pulled out a few of their blushers and applied a neutral matte one on my face. She then showed me their new Instaglow CC Creams and tried the Peach Glow one on the back of my hand which gives your skin a glow and deals with redness. The packaging is rather nice and as someone who loves colour correcting I think they're a great idea. They also have SPF which is a bonus! In addition there are new Shade Adjusting Drops to adjust your foundation if it's not the exact colour of your skin which I think is a fabulous idea.

Lastly I had a skincare consultation with a skincare expert. Last time I had a consultation they recommend the Aloe Soothing Night Cream to me which I bought and loved so I really wanted to take her advice again as my skin has changed recently. I explained to her that because of new medication my skin was now rather dry but still acne-prone so she recommend me some of the same products as before and some new ones. I also asked her about SPF moisturisers for going abroad with as I have been looking for the perfect one!

I enjoyed the event as much as the first one and as before the staff were lovely. They also kindly gave us goody bags and I was excited to see the new Instaglow Peach Glow CC Cream in it so I will definitely be writing about that at some point!

Haul | Travel Size Products

In June and July I am going abroad so I needed to stock up on some travel size products. All products mentioned are 100ml or under which fits in with the UK's guidelines on bringing liquids in your hand luggage.


The first item is simple but important- Carex Aloe Vera Hand Gel (50ml). I want to bring it with me so I can bring it out with me to make sure my hands are clean. I like the aloe vera one as hand sanitisers can be drying and I have sensitive skin so aloe gel helps to keep my skin calm. Pretty simple really!


The next item is a slight cheat. This item I already owned so I didn't buy it with the others but it is still a travel size product that I am bringing. This is The Body Shop Strawberry Shower Gel (60ml). It is the perfect size and the strawberry scent smells particularly fruity and perfect for summer.


Then is the travel size of Batiste Blush Floral & Flirty Dry Shampoo (50ml). The scent doesn't really matter to me but I use dry shampoo every week of my life so this is a necessity! The big bottles I usually buy are way too big to bring so this is a good size.


As someone with lots of baby hairs that stand up on end, I need hairspray. Likewise to my dry shampoo, my usual bottle is a huge bottle so would be no good for travel! This is the L'Oreal Elnett Satin Extra Strength Hairspray (75ml). The Elnett hairsprays remind me of my Mum as I always remember seeing them on her dressing table as a kid. When I used to do dance competitions she would use it on me so for that I just had to buy it when I saw it!


For heat defence, I picked up the VO5 Smoothly Does It Tame and Shine Heat Defence Spray (100ml). I actually didn't realise until after I bought it that this is for dry hair rather than wet hair which is when I had it in mind for, but it should be okay! I always try to avoid hairdryers but regularly use hair straighteners. 


Lastly is my all time favourite, Urban Decay De-slick Make Up Setting Spray (30ml). I buy this regularly on FeelUnique and love it for travelling. It keeps my make up in place well and I love it for hot weather as it has temperature control. It works wonders for stopping my make up from melting off in the heat! If keeping your make up in place on hot days is an issue for you then I really recommend this.


So that's it! Anything else I need travel sizes for I am just decanting from my full size products into empty travel bottles. 

May Favourites

I think this is probably the earliest I have ever uploaded my monthly favourites blog post!


My first favourite is my Essentials Amethyst Teardrop necklace. My boyfriend bought me this for my birthday; he definitely knows my taste! It is a beautiful purple amethyst with a sterling silver chain and silver veins curling over the amethyst. I love it and I have been really enjoying wearing it.


The second favourite is the Kiko Milano Water Eyeshadow '329' which Emily bought me for my birthday. I had seen these around and Emily was kind enough to buy me this lovely silver glittery one. The great thing about these is that you can use the eyeshadow dry for a more subtle look or wet for a more intense look. I have used this all over the lid or on the inner part of my eyelid. Review to come!


My next favourite I have written a review about and it is The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Night Cream. This night cream has really been helping to nourish and calm my sensitive skin and battle any dry patches. I can already see the bottom of the tub I've used it so much!


The final favourite is the Inglot Freedom System Rainbow Double Sparkle '126' Eyeshadow which I got in Dublin. An Irish YouTuber that I watch adores Inglot Cosmetics so when I went to Dublin I had planned to buy an Inglot product. This eyeshadow comes with 3 shades of blue and this month I've been particularly enjoying the middle shade of blue for applying at the corners of my eyelids and in my crease. It's like 3 eyeshadows for the price of 1! Of course, a review to come.


What have you been enjoying in May? I'm hoping to buy some make up that I can't get in my city/country on my June travels so hopefully my June favourites will be an interesting one!

Skincare | The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Night Cream

Skincare is important to me. I have acne-prone, blemished and sensitive skin so skincare is vital to ensure my skin can be the clearest it can be without aggravating it. For the majority of my teen years I had been using The Body Shop Tea Tree range and now I have decided to try different skincare items from them.


A couple of months ago, I went to The Body Shop Cribbs Causeway blogger event and as part of that I had a skincare consultation. After having a talk about my skin type, the lady suggested to me that I tried items from the aloe range. She explained to me that aloe is perfect for sensitive skin and for calming things down.


The Aloe Soothing Night Cream is a cream that you use at night time (duh!) which is thicker than the day cream. The lady tried both on the back of my hand and you can definitely feel the difference between them! The product claims to moisturise, be fragrance, colour and alcohol-free with no added preservatives. It says it's best to hydrate skin that needs more gentle care.


The packaging is a slim tub with a pale green lower half to represent the aloe. The product looks more than just your average budget moisturiser and instead looks more luxurious. It looks different to how it does on The Body Shop website so I believe they have had a packaging change. There is also a plastic pull-off lid on the inside which stops any product leaking out of the tub or getting on the roof of the outside lid which is handy!


The cream is thick like how you'd expect from a night cream, but it is not greasy. It's true that a little bit goes a long way and it takes about 15 minutes to soak in fully. I like to keep my hair out of the way in this time as your skin will feel a bit sticky but after it has soaked in it feels fine. Even though it is thick it does not feel heavy on the skin which I am grateful for because when creams feel thick I get worried that it will clog my pores.


It also seems calming and soothing on the skin. I apply it to my face, neck and even around my eyes and it doesn't sting or aggravate at all. Because of my acne I use a lot of skincare products with salicylic acid in and/or tea tree, meaning that on my sensitive skin it can dry it. Lately I have been using a lot of salicylic acid which has left dry patches, particularly on my nose and above my eyes (even though I'm not actually applying it to my eye area!) so I needed something nourishing. This night cream has been quick to get rid of my dry patches and because of it I now have no dry skin on my face! 


When I wake up in the morning my skin does feel much more moisturised than if I had used one of my normal moisturisers before bed. When I first started using this night cream I couldn't get over how soft my skin was that it was hard to refrain from stroking my face! Admittedly after a week of my skin getting used to the product it didn't feel as soft as it initially did, but it still does feel pretty smooth and hydrated. 


I do really like this product. It is £13 but because of it being my birthday this month The Body Shop gave me £5 to spend and then I had a discount on top which means I only paid £4! Despite this I would say it is worth the money and I would repurchase this. It is 50ml so it would be easy to take on holiday and I can imagine it would be amazing to use on your face after you've been out in the sun all day, especially if you've gone red! I would recommend this mainly to anyone who has sensitive skin and/or has sore, dry patches that you want to clear up.

Empties #10

Woah, we are on empties #10 already! In empties #9 I discussed hair products I had used. In today's empties we are talking mostly skincare...

• Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water- Need I really explain any more? holy grail. 

• Superdrug Flirty Exotic Fruits & White Chocolate- This was just a cheap body spray that was simply 'meh'. It did the job for a quick fix but wasn't exactly long lasting.

• BD Eyebrow and Eyelash Brush- I thought I would include this because it was one of the first brushes I had ever bought and have probably had it for about 3/4 years. But now it is to be put to rest because it has snapped! I've now replaced it with a Boots one. You've served me well.

• Talika Photo-Hydra Day Facial Moisturiser- I'll probably review this soon but this moisturiser brings a mixed bag of emotions. I got it in a Glossybox last year and there are good points and bad points to it. To be continued...

• The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Gel- I love and adore The Body Shop's tea tree range. This blemish gel doesn't last very long but it's good to use when you have an annoying spot come up you just want to get rid off!

Skincare | Body Butters, Creams & Lotions

I recently moved my collection of body butters and lotions into a new set of drawers from Ikea so I thought I may as well show you guys what I've got. None of these I've actually bought myself as they have all come from birthdays, Christmases, events and beauty boxes. I mostly like to use these creams after shaving because I find I can get dry skin after shaving otherwise. I never used to remember to do it, which I think a lot of people find, however I've been getting really good at remembering the past few months!

• Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Buttercream x2- I LOVE the smell of these! It is sweet, citrusy and makes me think of sugar and lime. 

• Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter- This doesn't have a strong as smell as the Sugar Crush and is more a basic subtle cream. 

• Bath & Body Mimosa & Violet Body Lotion- I've had this for so long I can't even remember where it came from!

• Paco Rabanne Black XS Body Lotion- This came in a set with perfume that my friend bought me. I love the smell of the perfume so I am sure I will enjoy this.

• Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite Body Lotion- I've used this a bit and it is a nice, thick vanilla lotion. Plus, how punny is the name?!

• The White Collection Cotton Camomile Body Cream- This is what I am using at the moment out of my collection. It is a basic cream but a little goes along way and I've nearly finished it.

• Royal Apothic Moisturising Body Creme- I got this in a GlossyBox and you apply it on to damp skin. I used it for a bit when I first got it and found it hard to remember to do it before my skin was dry so I will have to get used to it!

• Neutrogena Nordic Berry Body Lotion Samples x3- I got these in a goody bag from Bristol Fashion Week last year. I'm saving them for travelling!

• The Body Shop British Rose Butter Sample- This came from a goody bag at an event The Body Shop held. It came in for Mother's Day and I had a hand massage using the products from The British Rose range.

• The Body Shop Kukui Cream Sample- Another sample from the Body Shop event. I haven't used this one before or even heard of it but I did my research and found it was from their Spa of the World range. That makes me quite excited to try it!

• The Body Shop White Musk Body Lotion- I'm not sure how I feel about musk but it is definitely a stronger scent. Doesn't mean I won't use it though!

Now for the big daddies of body butters...

• The Body Shop Cranberry Body Butter- This is a Christmas one and I love berry colours and smells so I can't resist.

• The Body Shop Vanilla Body Butter- I've used this one quite a few times in the past yet still have lots left. A strong vanilla scent for sure.

• The Body Shop Mango Body Butter x3- Can you tell which one is my favourite scent?! I don't eat mangoes but there is something about the smell that I adore. I also love the body scrub of this.

• The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter x2- The strawberry ones just scream summer to me so will be sure to use it in the warmer months.

• The Body Shop Chocomania Body Butter- I don't know if this one is for everyone as it is a very strong cocoa scent. It's not one of my favourites but I don't hate it! 

• The Body Shop Shea Body Butter- Everyone knows shea is great for moisturising so I'm sure this one will be nice on particularly dry skin.

The Body Shop Event @ The Mall Cribbs Causeway

For years I have loved The Body Shop, particularly their tea tree range, so when I heard that the shop at The Mall Cribbs Causeway were holding their first blogger event I was excited.

Upon arrival I was given a drink and some heart shaped chocolates (which were delicious!) whilst being introduced to the team. The first activity I did was have a hand massage with some lovely new products from the British Rose range which were released for Mothers Day. The store just had sinks put in so the lady run my hand under warm water and massaged a scrub, an instant glow body essence and body butter into my hand whilst telling me some facts about the range. She then finished off by spritzing some of the eau de toilette on to my wrist. The massage was relaxing and my hand felt like jelly afterwards!


The next thing I did was have a make up consultation with another member of staff. She asked me what I was interested in which I replied were the eyeshadows. We picked out some eyeshadows and she used them on me to make a neutral smokey eye. It felt quite therapeutic having my make up one which I've only had done once before and I really liked the results! We also had a look at the purple and brown lipsticks and she wrote down for me all the products that we looked at.

The last step was a skincare consultation. I sat down with and a different lady and she asked me a few questions to determine my skin type and what I wanted to achieve with my skin. I described my skin as blemished to normal with slightly dry patches around my eyes. I also said that I want to achieve an unblemished, even skin tone which is youthful. She then tried some products on my hand which were tailored to my specific skin needs, explained the uses and benefits for them and wrote me up a day and night skincare routine. The products I liked trying the most were the Aloe night cream, the Drops of Youth serum and the Camomile butter. I'm definitely going to have to make some purchases soon!

The overall experience was very nice and the ladies who worked there were absolutely lovely. They were extremely helpful and were really interested in blogging. They even gave us a little goodie bag which I was grateful for as there were some samples in there that I wanted to try. I do hope they hold another event soon!

Empties #8

I seem to go through products like nobody's business and it means I always have stuff to show you guys. How often is too often to upload an Empties post?


I've always got an empty can of Batiste Dry Shampoo in my posts, I swear. I use Batiste about twice a week without fail and I absolutely love it. This is the Original scent.


If you've read my posts for a while you might know that I adore the mango scent from The Body Shop. The Mango Body Scrub just looks and smells delicious! To honour my favourite scent, I used up The Mango Body Mist which you can read my review on here. 


Next is the Nivea Oil Free Moisturiser Day Cream. I picked this up in an offer on Nivea moisturisers and I loved it. It is so light weight and doesn't feel heavy or clogged up on the skin. It didn't sting my sensitive skin and soaked in quickly enough that I could apply my make up soon afterwards. Bonus! 


One of my favourite nail polish brands is Models Own. They have such a large range of nail polishes in kind of big bottles and they are always of nice quality. This is their top coat from their HyperGel range, which mimics a gel nail. There is still a little bit in the bottle but I can't reach it with the brush and the formula has gone super gloopy. However, I liked it whilst it lasted even though it was a bit thick!


Last of all is The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil. Again, if you've been reading my blog for a while you might know that I love the tea tree range from The Body Shop for my acne prone skin. Whenever I had a spot coming I would cover it in this stuff! It's probably better to use at night time than before your make up routine because it does take a while to soak in but it really is the best choice for pesky spots. Have you used up a lot of products lately? I always find that I seem to finish things in an abundance all at the same time, rather than over time!

My Current Scrub #5

It's that time again!


Last week I finished by scrub from #4 and so this week I bring you my current body scrub #5. This is The Body Shop Coconut Sugar Body Scrub. As the big fan of The Body Shop body scrubs that I am, I had them on my Christmas list for 2015 and ended up with two of these coconut ones. 


The scrub smells deliciously strong of coconut and seems more abrasive than some of the other body scrubs by The Body Shop. There are brown beads in it which contributes to the exfoliating and it did seem to be more rough than some of other ones I have tried, such as the mango one. However, this is not a bad thing. It isn't too abrasive- just a good balance! You can definitely tell it is doing the job and leaves a moisturising feel afterwards.


Overall I do like this scrub and I am thankful that I have another tub of this. Because of the size, I think it will last me quite a few months!
