Lipstick Declutter!

Hello,

I have too many lipsticks! So the other day I decided to make myself go through them all and get rid of any I don't need anymore. I counted I had 29 lip products in total and my little basket was overfilling, so it was time to cull...

The photo above is a photo of my entire collection of lipsticks, liquid lipsticks, lip liners and the one lipgloss Juicy Shaker from Lancome. Here are a few of interest that will definitely be staying:

Urban Decay Comfort Matte 'Stark Naked' Lipstick- A creamy, matte, nude perfect for when you're running late and have to do your make up quickly.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick 'Lolita'- I have already nearly finished one. One of my favourites out of all my lipsticks as it's a beautiful nudey-brown colour.

Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Lipstick 'Rock Steady'- A creamy, shiney red from the Gwen Stefani collection. I adore the packaging!

Kiko Milano Endless Love Lipstick 'Soft Marsala'- From their Valentine's Collection. The lipstick is in the shape of a heart! Although mine is slightly ruined by a terrible ex who decided he would "stamp" the heart on his face...How ironic.

Now on to the items that I decided to get rid of:

BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie 'Break Away' lipstick- This lipstick is discontinued and I am so gutted! These are the first lipsticks I've ever finished and were perfect for days where I needed to do my make up super quick. Also good for nights out because it wouldn't noticeably come off when drinking.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick 'Dark Night Waterl-Oops!'- My second ever lipstick! It's a beautiful purple but it's so old now that it is 'wet', applies patchy and feathers immediately. It has to go!

BarryM Cosmetics Lipstick '37 Black'- Younger me wanted a black lipstick to rock. It is sooo patchy! I have the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick 'Witches' now which is 10x better so this is going to go.

Rimmel Super Lustrous Lipstick (Colour Unknown)- The most terrible lipstick I've ever used. I recieved it in a Glossybox and it's so patchy and streaky that I won't even bother giving it to someone else. It looks like the 'concealer lips' trend from years ago on me so I am just not digging it.

Essence Liquid Lipstick 'Show Off'- The only item I can give away to someone. I got it in a Glossybox and the colour really isn't my style. I've given it to my sister Kelly who suits this colour far better.

So these are all the items I have gotten rid of. 6 may not seem that many but for me I am quite proud and now I have a bit more space in my lipstick organiser to add much nicer lipsticks in to!

*Since this post I have also managed to give away to my sister my Max Factor 'Cherry Kiss', true red lipstick. It is a nice lipstick but quite frankly I have too many red lipsticks and just don't get the use out of it. I am sure my sister will love it.

Thanks for reading!

Paperchase Haul

Hey all!

I've never written a Paperchase haul before but there's a first time for everything! I noticed Paperchase had a sale on this week so I made sure to buy a few things.

The first thing I picked up is the Galaxy pencil case. I am starting University in September so I needed a pencil case and this design just stood out to me. I love the colours and the galaxy so what more could I want?

Then I picked up a mini diary. I am definitely someone who loves to be organised. I adore making lists and I always make use of the calendar in my room, my to do list app and writing important things on a whiteboard in my room. I thought I would try out a diary and the good thing about this one is that it is small enough to carry around in my bag so I can write down anything on the go. It is also a mid-Year diary meaning it starts from July which works out nicely! It was only cheap in the sale so it doesn't matter if it turns out I don't use it much. We will have to see how useful it becomes for me.

The next two items are travel items. I am going to Tenerife at the end of the month and I wanted a new suitcase tag and passport holder. I embarrassingly admit that I still use a pink hello kitty tag and passport holder from when I was younger and I can't stand the embarrassment any longer! For a luggage tag I chose the Parkano luggage tag. I thought the colours were nice and it has plenty of space for writing your details on the back which I need because I have large handwriting! As for the passport holder I chose the Get Away stamps holder. I love travelling so I really liked how it has different countries stamped on it. It also has a plastic case around it which means it would be good if it got wet at all.

That's that! I love Paperchase and no doubt I will be purchasing from there again soon.

Organisation | Nail Polish, Polish Book & Tools

Hey all!

For the last 3 or 4 years I have had quite the nail polish collection. I used to be obsessed with nail polish and racked myself up about 130 nail polishes! However, a couple of months ago I did a big tidy out and chucked away all nail polishes that had gone gloopy and gave away ones I knew I wouldn't use (i.e. the pink ones). I was also not happy with the way I organised them as I struggled to find anything I wanted and would forget about half the ones I had!

After getting rid of all the polishes I didn't want, I had the idea of making a nail polish book. My collection is too large to remember all the shades I have so to help this I grabbed an old notebook and made a page for each colour. Then, I painted a swatch of each and every colour and wrote their name next to it. I find this extremely helpful because when I want to paint my nails I have a flick through the book and decide what colours I want to use. I can see the colours and I can see the different shades which means I manage to use everything in my collection and not just the ones I remember! If you have a large collection I really recommend doing this.

The other way I organised my nail polishes was by organising them into colour categories in my drawer. Rather than having them all mixed up I keep them in their colour groups which makes it simple to find the one I'm looking for after choosing it from my nail polish book. I know some other people keep their polishes in their brand categories but I prefer to do it by colour. When I've chosen my polishes I will keep them out of the drawer on my bedside table ready for any touch ups and then when I'm done they go back into their groups.

When I was younger I also used to be really into nail art so I have quite a few tools, glitters and stickers too. Before I organised them they were just all over my nail polish drawer and I would forget all about them so now I keep them separate and together. As you can see in the photo above I keep all my nail files, nail art brushes, dotting tools, sponges, tweezers and nail scissors together. I keep them in a jar which is actually a Nutella jar! My favourite trick for organisation is cleaning out Nutella jars when you've eaten all the yummy goodness because the jars are actually quite nice.

Another thing I've done to keep certain tools together is by using a tray. This is a tray I used to use on my dressing table but now I've recycled it for my nail file blocks, nail glue, stickers and gems. The tray ensures that the sheets of nail stickers don't end up getting lost amongst the jungle of nail polishes and all stay together instead.

Last of all are my nail glitters. I don't use these much if I'm honest but I keep them anyway just in case (and come on- they are pretty!). To keep these together I have recycled a cotton buds tub and put them in there. Now if I want to go for a really glittery look I can just pull out the tub and pick which colour glitter I want to go for.

So that's my nail polish and tools organisation! I am well and truly happy with my collection and how it is all laid out now which is the first time I have been happy with it. I find it easy to pick and choose what I want and it how tidied it is makes it visually pleasing for me. I didn't have to buy anything to do it and just recycled things I already had. You can do this too with things you just have lying about in your house!

How do you store your nail polishes?

Organisation | The Benefits of Whiteboards

Hey!

A bit of a different post for me today...I wanted to show you one of my favourite ways of being organised- and that is through the use of a whiteboard!

I have had a whiteboard in my room for about a year now. I am really big on making visual lists and organising everything I need to do in a visual way so my mind feels a little less cluttered. In addition I love to see my list get smaller and smaller and get great satisfaction out of ticking things off a list because they make me feel like I have achieved something...it is the little things in life.

You can use whiteboards for various things. As you can see in the picture, at the moment I am using my whiteboard to create a 'To Do List' for each day. In the left hand corner I will write what day it is and then list off things I need to do underneath. My whiteboard also has magnets that came with it which I use as bullet points. You can also see that in the right hand corner I write down when my next driving lesson will be and what time it will be. When I've achieved something I will cross it off on my whiteboard- as you can see I have already changed my bed covers today! I like to make my lists colourful as well to make tasks seem a little less boring.

But you can also use it for other things. When I was in sixth form I used it to put down what homework I had to do and used the magnets to bullet point each subject. I would then cross off a homework if I had done it.

Another way to use it is for work. When I had a Christmas job I used the whiteboard to put down what days and hours I'd be working. I created a big table on it with columns for days, times and hours in total. I would then cross off each shift after I had done it.

For now it is working great for me as a To Do List. I have exams coming up so it is useful for me to write down a To Do List in a time where I need to be most organised.

I have been meaning to, since I got the whiteboard, hang it up on my wall but I keep forgetting to do it so at the moment I perch the whiteboard up against a chest of drawers.

You can get a whiteboard cheap in loads of places. Mine was from Hobbycraft which is a craft store in the UK but I have seen whiteboards in supermarkets such as Tesco so I would just suggest checking out your local supermarket or craft store. Of course, you can always find them online on Amazon. You can also find whiteboard pens pretty much anywhere. Mine came with a whiteboard rubber, a little shelf thing to put the pens and whiteboard rubber on and bits to add to the back of the whiteboard so you can hang it up on a wall.

Now I can cross off 'Do blog post'!

What do you think? What other ways do you use to stay organised? Let me know!

Getting Organised #2: DIY Medication Storage

Hey BumbleBeas!
One area I needed to get organised with was with my medication. I am on constant medication and I have found that I sometimes lose them underneath all my other stuff! When I was tidying out the drawer I kept all my medication in, I found 7 MONTHS WORTH OF MEDICATION! I thought I only had 2 months left! That just proves how disorganised I am.

So I realised I needed to store and look after my medication better. I was sat there for a long while wondering what I could do and what my medication could fit in. But then I realised: I already know my medication fits in the boxes it comes in!

So my first step was to collect all my medication that I didn't realise I had together and got rid of all the packaging of them apart from one.

I then decided that considering I will be always be using it I may as well make the storage funky! I grabbed some left over wrapping paper and glued it around the box to make it look nicer.

Next, I wrote 'Medication' on a white square and stuck it on the front. Just to look nicer I grabbed a glittery nail varnish and painted it around the sign.

Finally I put all my medication in it and that was that!

Since doing this I have found it much easier to keep track of my medication and keep it in one place without unnecessary packaging. Furthermore the way I made it 'pretty' really just adds to its appearance rather than just having a boring looking storage holder with complicated medical terms on it.

So what do you think? Let me know! Please check out my first post and others coming up by the 'Getting Organised' tag.

Getting Organised Series: #1

Hello BumbleBeas!

A lot of eventful things have been happening in my life the past year and one thing that has been let down because of it is my bedroom. My bedroom has taken a backseat in my life and it has really become a disorganised mess. Everything is a state, nothing is tidy and I can never find a single thing. My room has become as disorganised as my life. I'm not even exaggerating: I haven't seen my entire bedroom floor in months and every drawer and corner of my room is just one big muddle.

So then it occurred to me that if there is one thing I can take control of in my life is the setting I am in. Having a bedroom in such a state that I am embarrassed about has made me feel down and I know if I can get on top of it and achieve organisation then that will transfer in to me feeling a bit happier about life.

After doing a lot of research on organisation and watching various videos/reading posts on different ways of organising and using materials you have to get tidy I have finally begun the long process of sorting out my room! When I can come home from a stressful day and feel at peace in my room is the day I will be happy.

So I thought I would take you all along on my journey. This will be my getting organised for a more organised life and an organised mind series which will include updates on my situation, ideas and DIY crafts. I have a few ideas so stay tuned!

And if your room as in much as a state as mine you might want to join me on battling it. You will feel better for it afterwards!
