Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara

This is the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara which came out this year. I had heard lots of brilliant things about this mascara from bloggers and YouTubers so I decided on a whim in Boots that I'd buy it. I didn't need a new mascara, but how many is really too many? I tell myself it is for the purpose of the blog.

Maybelline claim that this mascara instantly plumps and volumises lashes and keeps them lifted with styling wax. The brush has cup shaped bristles to push up your eyelashes to give a lifted effect. The packaging is half red and half black which a black band in the middle, making it look like there might be a wand on either side but there is only one! It is a tall mascara.

When I first opened the mascara the first thing that hit me was the smell. It smells so strong and so bad that it made my eyes water! Fortunately the scent has died down over the time but for a while it definitely wasn't a treat for my sense of smell.

To give you context, my eyelashes are straight and point outwards and downwards so have no lift to them. I also don't have many eyelashes and some short eyelashes due to losing lashes from a previous eye infection. So for me I am looking for mascara that curls my lashes and keeps them lifted! I battle the sparse lashes by tight lining with black eyeliner to give the illusion I have more eyelashes than I actually do.

When I first used the mascara I honestly didn't like it and I panicked because everyone else seems to like it. When I used it the smell bothered me, it was very clumpy and clumped my lashes together. It was also very messy and I had a lot of clean up to do afterwards. The only things I seemed to like was that it made my eyelashes look longer and very black.

This is one of those mascaras where the formula gets better after using it for a while. The formula was quite wet and clumpy at first and I had to ensure I brushed my lashes through with an eyelash comb before and after to make it work. However after a while the formula changed and became less wet and less clumpy. 

As for my lashes, they are extremely black and I see definite length added to them when I use this mascara. If I do it right (which I'll go on to explain) my eyelashes do lift up at the ends and I can add an extra lift to it throughout the day by just holding my finger under my lashes and gently pushing up. The mascara then helps to hold them up.

The mascara is still a bit messy and I find it near impossible to use this mascara without leaving some sort of mess. When I do my inner eyelashes and lower eyelashes 8 times out of 10 it will smudge. This is annoying but can be cleaned up by leaving it to dry then flaking it off with a cotton bud. 

So as I mentioned above, I have a 'right' way of using this mascara. It took some trial and error but I have found that I need to do it in a certain order to avoid clumping. First of all, when I pull the wand out of the product I have to wipe some of the product off. I then start with my upper lashes of the eye with the most eyelashes, that being my right eye. This is so the product spreads out over the majority of my lashes to avoid the clumping. I then like to do the upper lashes of my left eye before doing my lower eyelashes so there is less product and thus less likeliness of clumping on my lower lashes which are short and sparse.

When done correctly I do like my eyelashes with this mascara as they have a small lift and are lengthened. Done incorrectly and my lashes are clumped together and messy. As for lasting power the mascara doesn't smudge on my upper lashes and smudges slightly from my lower lashes after 4 hours. This doesn't bother me much because I just swipe it away with the side of my index finger. 

I don't sell it very well but this mascara is actually alright and I've definitely used worse. I like the little lift it gives my eyelashes but I reckon I could find another mascara with better lift and better hold. But for now I will continue to use this one and will take it away with me when I go on holiday. I do recommend trying it because out of all the reviews I had seen on this they were all pretty positive so it does seem popular! It is £7.99 which is a fair price for a Maybelline mascara.

bareMinerals | Lash Domination Mascara

I was given a sample size of the bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara at the bareMinerals event I went to (click here) and I have been using it since.

Lash Domination claims to be a volumising mascara for 'larger-than-life lashes'. It claims to lengthen, thicken, separate and lift lashes up to 345% that in asterisks says 'after two coats of mascara' that is long-wearing. That is some major claims! As expected with bareMinerals, it is made with minerals and 'quiona protein'.

The packaging of the mascara is simple but sleek with a silver background that you can see your reflection in with basic black writing. The full size mascara's lid is actually slightly twisted in shape which matches the mascara wand. The wand has bristles that curve around in a twisted shape, which I can only describe as comparing to the shape of an image of DNA. It has longer bristles at the base and middle that go shorter at the tip, perfect for getting those little tiny lashes in the inner corner of your eye.

So what I think? Well, overall I think the mascara is good. It does lengthen my eyelashes and holds a curl over time. It makes them a lot blacker and it is perfect for applying mascara to your lower lashes! Because the bristles are so long you can apply mascara to your lower lashes without getting the wand so close that it smudges on to the skin. I wore this mascara over a period of 6 hours which I think is a normal day for a lot of people and I can say that it didn't really smudge. It smudged slightly in to the lines underneath my eyes but other than that it was long-lasting.
 The only problem I had was that it smudged a bit on to my lower skin earlier in the day because my eye was watering! I have this issue where my right eye cries unintentionally and it smudged a bit on to my skin so I always need a mascara that isn't going to do that. However all I need to do is just keep an eye (no pun intended) on the mascara and wipe off any bits that have smudged.

In conclusion it is a good mascara that does what it says on the tin. It recommends using two coats but I don't feel adding a second coat makes much of a difference apart from making some lashes slightly longer so I don't see the point in it. One coat is good enough!

L'oreal Miss Manga Mascara

Hello!

I have been using this mascara for a long while now so it's about time I reviewed it.

I had been wanting this mascara for ages so when I received it has a present I was really excited. The packaging is absolutely beautiful and the name 'Miss Manga' made me have hope for bold, long lashes like the girls in manga illustrations have. I got the colour black but there are also the colours turquoise and purple available. How cool is that?

Another intriguing thing about the mascara is the brush. Firstly is an interesting shape, as I best describe as like sound waves, and secondly it is a flexible brush that can bend around.

So what do I think? Well, I love it. I believe this is certainly the best mascara I have ever used for long and bold lashes. I love how when you use the brush the flexibility of it means it moves with your lashes as you apply the mascara and ensures it gets the entire length of your eyelashes. Furthermore the smaller bristles at the end are perfect for getting little eyelashes and the ones in the inner corner of your eye. In addition I don't find any clumps either. Fantastic!

My only problem with the mascara is that I cannot use it on my lower lashes. Although on the mascara it says for upper and lower eyelashes I find that although it looks good on upper and lower, the mascara on the lower lashes smudges quite quickly on to my face. To resolve this problem I use a different mascara for my lower lashes, which right now is Max Factor False Lash Effect. 

Overall I really love this mascara and would also like to try the turquoise one as it looks both fun and beautiful! L'oreal Miss Manga Mascara is £8.99.

Max Factor False Lashes Effect Mascara Review

So for the past couple of months now I have been using pretty much every day the Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara which you can get in black, 'brown black' and waterproof. This mascara claims to create a false lash effect and last for 24 hours without smudging.

I was going through a problem with my mascaras as I was finding that they all seemed to be smudging to underneath my eye quite low down which was both visible and annoying. So when I was going through my Mum's mascaras to find one to use for a night out, I ended up finding this one. What had drawn me to it was the fact that it claimed to last 24 hours so I hoped that meant it wouldn't smudge.

My hope was correct. My mascara did not smudge! This impressed me so much I carried on using it and called it my own. Sorry Mum! The mascara has quite a thick brush with thick, big bristles. I prefer brushes like this and I found it easy to use on my upper and lower lashes. It also made my eyelashes very black which I like and it did not leave clumps or clump my eyelashes together. 

The only issue I can find with this mascara is that I do not particularly agree with the false lash effect. My lashes did not feel volumnised and I certainly did not look like I had amazing eyelashes. They just looked normal only a deep black colour.

Other than that I like the mascara and I am glad I found it. It doesn't wow me enough to be calling it a staple piece that I NEED to buy again but if there were no other mascaras I wanted to try I would buy it. I would recommend it to a friend if they had the same problem as me with smudging though and I would buy it for someone as a gift.

April Favourites!

Hello! Here are my kind of late April favourites:

1. Models Own- Hypergel and Speckled Egg

Both new from Models Own, Hypergel is a high-shine gel like nail varnish which I love. Mine is a beautiful pastel blue. The other one is from the speckled egg collection brought out for Easter and I have mine in green. I will do full reviews on these soon!

2. L'oreal Paris Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara- Black

I was so excited when I got this! I don't want to say too much about it as a review will be coming up on it but it is great and I really want to try the other colours.

3. Revlon ColourBurst Matte Lip Balms

Silly me forgot to note down the names of these colours but I have a beautiful red and a gorgeous purple. I will review these very soon but I am extremely EXCITED about them!

4. DVD- Chicago

I LOVE musicals, and Chicago is one of my favourites. Chicago is a brilliant film and the songs are fun to sing along to :-) Saucy, sexy and pure brilliance. A must watch.

Surprise, my birthday is next week (3rd of April)!
