July Favourites

Hey!

My July Favourites comes slightly late but I wanted to do a favourites post as I haven't done one in ages. Some months you don't feel there are products that you've really been loving but for July there are a few items for me.

Urban Decay 'Stark Naked' Comfort Matte Lipstick

Hey!

Yesterday was National Lipstick Day, so in honour of that I thought I would upload a lipstick review. I've had the Urban Decay 'Stark Naked' Comfort Matte Lipstick for many months now so it is about time!

With lipsticks, I like to have an easy nude colour that is quick and easy to put on when I am getting ready in a rush and don't have time to spend on perfecting my lipstick. After my favourite BareMinerals lipstick was discontinued, I needed to find the perfect new nude for this job. And this is what I chose.

February Favourites

I haven't done a monthly Favourites post in a long while so thought I'd bring it back again this month!

1. Monkl Shady Lady Eyeshadow Palette- This was a Christmas present from my friend Ruby. I have been enjoying a particular shade from the palette this month which is the first shade- a glittery silver. I have been loving this colour as a base colour on my eyelid and it goes well with multiple crease colours. On a night out I have used black to create a smokey eye and in the day time I have used a purple which I absolutely loved the combination of! I find this colour becomes more pigmented as well with a damp brush so prefer to use it that way. It also makes for a fab inner corner highlight!

2. Urban Decay Aferglow 8-Hour Highlighter 'Sin'- I bought this beautiful highlighter with a gift card after eyeing it up for 6 months. The packaging is stunning to match the stunning silvery highlight. It goes on sheer so you can build it up depending on how bold you want your highlight to be and is easy to blend. This also makes for a fab inner corner highlight.

3. Real Techniques Your Picks: Berlin 'Base Shadow Brush'- Although this is a base eyeshadow brush, I've actually been loving using it to blend out the edges of my crease colour. Although I do use a crease brush first to pack on the colour, I find it is far easier to blend the edges out for a less harsh line with this fluffy brush. I reviewed the whole set on my blog so be sure to check that out!

4. Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer- This is a cult favourite for all beauty bloggers and I am certainly late to the bandwagon but I can see what the hype is about now! I've been loving how easy it is to start lightly and then build it up if necessary. The perfect bronzer colour which is also good for subtle contouring.

5. Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick 'Exorcism'- I have been wanting this browny-red vampire colour for ages so when my friend Antonia bought it for me for Christmas I was ecstatic. It's not as good at layering as 'Lolita' is but nevertheless I still love it and it doesn't have to be a bold lip that takes forever to apply. LOVE this colour!

Beauty Haul | Urban Decay, Benefit etc!

Hello!

It had been a long time since I went to the shops and just shopped, browsed the make up section etc so yesterday I decided to remedy this with Christmas gift cards in hand.

I first of all went into Boots, which I was most excited about. I can't remember the last time I went in and just looked at everything and bought what took my fancy!

I noticed it was 3 for 2 on Eylure, so I picked up 3 pairs of eyelashes as I didn't have any left in my collection. I always used to wear fake eyelashes on nights out and special occasions but I just hadn't got round to buying more. I like more natural one's that don't look heavy but still make my eyelashes look fuller and longer. I chose: Naturals No. 33, Naturals. 020 and Lengthening No. 116. I am particularly interested in trying No. 33 has it is an angled lash with a lengthening finish so I am hoping they will look amazing with winged eyeliner and give a feline look to the eyes.

Then I picked out the Collection Powered by Witch Mattifying Pore Minimiser Primer as I noticed that morning I was coming to the end of my primer. I picked this one because I like witch hazel for acne and my friend recommended it. An absolutely budget friendly primer too so it will be great if it is good!

After, I went over to the Benefit counter. I love Benefit but rarely buy anything from there due to their prices and me liking to save my pennies. However, I thought I'd treat myself by getting the cult favourite Hoola bronzer. I was confident I would like it as everyone and their dog seems to like it so I am looking forward to giving it a go!

Then of course, I also had to lastly pick up my holy grail Batiste dry shampoo. I have spoken about this dry shampoo way too much on my blog as I just can't live without it.

I then went over to John Lewis to check out the Urban Decay counter where I saw the Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Highlighter in 'Sin'. My friend and I had seen it back in June when we were travelling in Berlin and I instantly fell in love with it. I had been thinking about it ever since so I just went for it! I had space for a decent highlighter in my make up collection and I am extremely excited to use it.

That was it for my make up items. It isn't pictured but I additionally went into Topshop and picked up a 'night out' dress which was on sale from £39.00 to £15.00! My friend spotted it and I fell in love. It is a tight nude coloured dress with black lace overlay and spaghetti straps. There is also another spaghetti strap forming a 'V' over the chest which is what had particularly drawn me to it.

My Top 6 Travelling Make Up Favourites

Hey all!

This year has been full of a fair amount of travelling opportunities for me and so I have repeatedly been bringing certain make up products away with me. Because of this I thought I would share with you my top 6 travelling make up favourites and why I think they're perfect for travelling. In addition all the products are hand luggage friendly on the plane and all liquids are 100ml or less.

My first item is the Urban Decay De-Slick Make Up Setting Spray in the travel size. When I'm on holiday somewhere hot, I need my make up to have great staying power more than ever! Me getting hot equals me getting sweaty and this may mean melting and moving make up. But no fear- the Urban Decay setting spray is here! It does a great job in making my make up last and with the temperature control technology it has it is not going to budge on a hot day.

Urban Decay does it for me again with the Urban Decay Naked Basics eyeshadow palette which Emily bought me. This is the perfect compact size for travelling and the packaging isn't breakable. It means that it can survive my hand luggage or suitcase and not break! In addition the colours are perfect neutrals meaning I can make any sort of eye make up with it. Rather than taking lots of eyeshadows with me I instead can take this one eyeshadow which can take me from day to night. I don't think I will ever trust anything else to take travelling with me!

Continuing on from eye make up products, I would like to mention the Seventeen Black Kohl Eye Pencil. I am usually allergic to eyeliner pencils and they make my eyes water like nothing else but for some reason this eye pencil doesn't bother me! But that's not why I like it for travelling. I like it for travelling because it barely takes up any room and can be used in different ways. I like to use it for tight lining as it slides easy without hurting and makes my sparse eyelashes look fuller. This means that if I don't have any mascara on when I am away, at least I can look like I have more eyelashes that I actually have! It is also great for different looks. I can use it across my waterline, on my eyelid, make it strong or smudge it out. Used in conjunction with my Naked Basics palette I can do any sort of look and again take it from day to night.

Let's talk about lipstick. Now I am usually a bold lip kind of girl but when I am on holiday I just want to do my make up as quickly as possible so I can get out and enjoy my holiday. When I was interrailing I had days where I only had an hour to get ready before checking out of our hotel for the next journey so I had no time to fuss around with a bold lip! This is the bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in 'Break Away'. It is a nude lipstick and is glides on with ease with a lovely creamy texture. Nude lips aren't difficult to do and how easy it is to apply this lipstick means I don't have to mess around with the lip shape for ages. Furthermore it lasts quite well through drinking and eating and because it is nude it won't look patchy if it fades either! I don't have to pay much attention to this throughout the day and overall is generally just the easiest lipstick I own. You can tell I use it a lot because there's not much of the bullet left!

For primer I have been bringing along Emite Make Up Diamond Heart Primer which I got from GlossyBox one time. I like bringing this because it is very small so does not take up much space in my transparent liquids bag on the plane, which means more room for more make up! The primer also does not take much time to blend in to the skin and settle so I can get on with the rest of my make fairly quickly which I want when I am away. Not only that but the consistency is light and smooth so doesn't feel like a thick silicone primer on a hot day. The last thing I like about it for travelling is that it the peach tone of it means it helps tone down the redness on my skin. Because of this I can still use this even if I am not wearing make up and tackle evening out my skin tone.

My last travel favourite is the Collection Lasting Perfection Powder. I have been using this powder for years and there are 2 reasons why I like it for travelling. My first reason is that because it is matte it will get rid of shine. When I am on holiday I find my upper lip, chin, middle of forehead and around my nose get shiny. If that happens I can just pull out this matte powder, put it on and the shine is gone! My second reason is the packaging. When you open the lid you get the powder but if you lift up the powder you then have a mirror and flat sponge applicator. This is my favourite mirror to use if I don't have a big mirror (making it good for on the go) and I can do my make up in it. My Urban Decay Naked Basics palette has a mirror but because it is pressed against the eyeshadows when shut it gets covered in pigment. However, in this case the mirror is separate so it is always clean and clear from product. As a little extra tip, the sponge applicator is handy if you get grains of sand on your face! I don't use it for make up application but one time I was on the beach on a windy day and I had sand grains stuck all in my foundation. As you can imagine it was not a good look but I managed to remove it all with this sponge applicator without ruining my make up. Just a little bonus there!

What are some travel friendly make up products that you like?

Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani 'Rock Steady' Lipstick

Hello!

Ever since I saw the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani range I knew I had to have something. I used to absolutely adore Gwen Stefani in my childhood and was always singing her songs! I also love Urban Decay so it's a good mix. Gwen is known for her bold lips and I nearly *always* go for a bold lip so I knew she would have a colour I'd love.

The packaging of her lipsticks are quite unique and are inspired by Gwen's love of black and gold graphic prints. This has differently angled lines of gold and black which gives me a very rock feel and I love it.

'Rock Steady' is a warm, deep red with a sheen to it which isn't quite as dark as the bullet shows. I've seen it described as glossy but when I think of glossy I think of as shiny as a lipgloss so I don't agree with it. I think it has a sheen to it which focuses mainly on the middle of the lips. The lipstick is a cream lipstick making it really easy to glide onto the lips and gives a slightly slippy feel as opposed to it feeling really dry like some lipsticks can. It is also extremely pigmented and you can achieve an opaque, bold lip straight away.

I believe that this lipstick looks good with and without a lip liner; although I prefer to use it with. This is because I sometimes find after eating oilier food the lipstick can bleed a little at the edges of my month which can be easily fixed anyway. The range does have matching lip liners but I use a far cheaper alternative by pairing it with a L'Oreal red lip liner.

As for lasting power, because it is a sheen lipstick it doesn't last as long as a matte lip would. If I'm not eating and drinking it is fine but if I do eat and drink the colour on the sides and corners of my mouth will go. Drinking a drink through a straw is okay but if I'm drinking out of a cup it will go. Because of this I always make sure I bring the lipstick out with me and will reapply after I've finished eating. Layering the lipstick is fine and it doesn't go funny like some lipsticks can do (I find that with MAC ones).

In conclusion I do like this lipstick. It is very pigmented so makes a wonderful bold lip and it is a red and finish that I didn't already have in my collection. Nearly all of the lipsticks I own are matte so this is something different, but not too different, for me. It hasn't got the best lasting power after eating but reapplying is perfectly fine. Just watch out for any of the colour bleeding! Maybe if you're going out all day you could bring a cotton bud with you just in case.

The lipstick is £16 making it one of the most expensive lipsticks I have. I'm glad I bought it and it would be something I'd see as making a good gift for a real make up lover or for someone who also had a love for Gwen Stefani years ago!

Do you have any of the products from the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani range?

Haul | Travel Size Products

In June and July I am going abroad so I needed to stock up on some travel size products. All products mentioned are 100ml or under which fits in with the UK's guidelines on bringing liquids in your hand luggage.

The first item is simple but important- Carex Aloe Vera Hand Gel (50ml). I want to bring it with me so I can bring it out with me to make sure my hands are clean. I like the aloe vera one as hand sanitisers can be drying and I have sensitive skin so aloe gel helps to keep my skin calm. Pretty simple really!

The next item is a slight cheat. This item I already owned so I didn't buy it with the others but it is still a travel size product that I am bringing. This is The Body Shop Strawberry Shower Gel (60ml). It is the perfect size and the strawberry scent smells particularly fruity and perfect for summer.

Then is the travel size of Batiste Blush Floral & Flirty Dry Shampoo (50ml). The scent doesn't really matter to me but I use dry shampoo every week of my life so this is a necessity! The big bottles I usually buy are way too big to bring so this is a good size.

As someone with lots of baby hairs that stand up on end, I need hairspray. Likewise to my dry shampoo, my usual bottle is a huge bottle so would be no good for travel! This is the L'Oreal Elnett Satin Extra Strength Hairspray (75ml). The Elnett hairsprays remind me of my Mum as I always remember seeing them on her dressing table as a kid. When I used to do dance competitions she would use it on me so for that I just had to buy it when I saw it!

For heat defence, I picked up the VO5 Smoothly Does It Tame and Shine Heat Defence Spray (100ml). I actually didn't realise until after I bought it that this is for dry hair rather than wet hair which is when I had it in mind for, but it should be okay! I always try to avoid hairdryers but regularly use hair straighteners.

Lastly is my all time favourite, Urban Decay De-slick Make Up Setting Spray (30ml). I buy this regularly on FeelUnique and love it for travelling. It keeps my make up in place well and I love it for hot weather as it has temperature control. It works wonders for stopping my make up from melting off in the heat! If keeping your make up in place on hot days is an issue for you then I really recommend this.

So that's it! Anything else I need travel sizes for I am just decanting from my full size products into empty travel bottles.

March Favourites

Let's get down to business! Can anyone name what film that's from? But anyway, here are my March favourites:

  • Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Lipstick 'Rocksteady'- I got this lipstick new this month. I was quite ill at the beginning of March so decided I needed to treat myself to something to cheer myself up. So this happened. I will be reviewing this very soon but sneak peek: I really like it! Plus, can we all appreciate how beautiful the packaging is?

  • Lancome Juicy Shaker 'Meli Melon'- This is something I'd never thought I'd ever own or like. I don't like lipgloss and I don't like pink. So how did this happen? My first product from Lancome which I won in a giveaway and it is honestly one of the most fun make up items I've ever tried. Review coming soon!

  • W7 Go Colour Corrective Concealer 'Green'- I've had this since sometime last year and the reason it is in my favourites this month is because I'm so surprised it has lasted me so long. I use green corrector concealers on the majority of my face nearly every day so I love how long this has lasted. Probably the one I've used the longest! You can read my review on it here.

  • Dark Places by Gillian Flynn- Oh. my. god. This book. I don't want to leave any spoilers, but lets say this book left me feeling shaken up. I read this in under 24 hours because I was so incredibly gripped by it. I felt so many emotions reading it and I do cry at books a lot, but never have I ever felt so shaken up by a story before. I literally sat in silence for 5 minutes after finishing trying to come to terms with what I've read. A few graphic scenes, but definitely an enticing read!

What were your favourites in March? Here's to April: my birthday month!

Make Up Haul | Inglot, MAC & more

Hey all!

Over the past couple of weeks I have somehow managed to buy more make up than I usually tend to. But I'm not complaining! I absolutely love make up and it makes me happy purchasing a new product. But anyway, I thought I would show you guys what I've got:

  • Urban Decay All Nighter Make Up Setting Spray- I accidentally bought this on FeelUnique as I had just finished my first bottle of the De-Slick Setting Spray and wanted to order another...but I accidentally ordered this one! However, this didn't bother me as I've heard so many bloggers rave about the All Nighter one. I have high hopes!

  • L'Oreal Infallible 24hr-Matte Foundation- This is my second bottle of the stuff. It lasts for ages! I bought my first one in the beginning of September and it seems to be quite low now so I thought I'd buy another before it runs out. I do like this foundation and you can read my review on it here.

  • Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama- This is a new product released by Maybelline so I thought I would give it a go. I am on the look out for the perfect mascara for my super straight and sparse eyelashes, so I'll have to let you know how this goes.

  • Inglot Cosmetics Rainbow Eyeshadow '126'- I went to Dublin last week with my friend and knew beforehand that I wanted to find Inglot. I have seen LetzMakeUp on YouTube use Inglot a lot in her kit so she is the one to blame! I went for this beautiful rainbow blue one with glitter. I love the colours so much and can't wait to use them.

  • Kiko Milano Endless Love Lipstick '05 Soft Marsala'- I've got a new found love for Kiko lipsticks so when this limited edition range was released before Valentine's Day I quickly snapped this lipstick up. It's so cute as it is in the shape of a heat! To read my review on it, click here.

  • Kiko Milano Endless Love Lip Liner '05 Soft Marsala'- The lip liner match for the lipstick above which I find really helps my lips to look fuller. There is also a review on the lip liner with the lipstick.

  • MAC 'Sin' Lipstick- After seeing people use this colour before and as a dark lip lover I always found myself attracted to this lipstick. When I went to Dublin we went into MAC and I swatched it and knew I definitely wanted it. On Monday I went to town (in my own city) with my brother and straight away went to buy it.

Have you bought any make up recently? I find it so hard to resist! I'll be sure to review the products that I haven't already reviewed soon.

January Favourites

Hello all!

So we have officially finished our first month of 2016. How was your January? Mine wasn't anything exciting to be honest. However, I am going to Dublin next week so February will be slightly more interesting!

My first favourite of January (and the first in 2016) is my wonderfully gorgeous Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette. I bought it in the Boxing Day sales and everyday since I find myself staring at it. It's just so beautiful! I definitely will have a review coming up on it so stay tuned.

My next favourite is the bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in 'Break Away'. I've been using this colour since April/May last year and I was absolutely obsessed with it, but then I kind of forgot about it for a while. Lately I have been really in to it again, to the point where my sample size is nearly finished. Because my sample size is nearly finished I quickly purchased the full size on FeelUnique- I don't want to go without it! It is the perfect nude for me and fades evenly after eating/drinking, making it perfect for dinner dates and nights out. I actually reviewed this lipstick here if you would like to check it out.

I've also been loving a new perfume this month which is Lovestruck by Vera Wang. I haven't used it before but after receiving it for Christmas I have been using it every time that I leave the house. The packaging makes it look lovely on my dressing table and I know it is going to last me a while. I reviewed this here recently!

Finally, I've been really loving my black faux fur coat from New Look. It isn't in the photo above but I will show it to you below. I had been eyeing up faux fur coats for a while last year which my Mum noticed, so she bought me one for Christmas. I love it as it adds something quite 'sassy' to your outfit and is super warm if you're walking home in low degrees at night.

Those are  my favourites for January. What were your favourites?

Christmas on a Student Budget | Gifts for: The Make Up Enthusiast

Whenever I see Christmas guides, more often than not I sit and think to myself: There's no way I could afford that! Although I have just come out of education for a year's break, I still consider myself a student I am certainly still on the budget of one! So I have decided to make a mini series called 'Christmas on a Student Budget' which consist of presents that aren't too expensive and would be helpful for anyone who can't spend too much money this Christmas.

First of all I would like to start with something that I know best: make up. To follow a link to the item I am talking about, just click the product name!

1. Urban Decay De-Slick MakeUp Setting Spray (£9.00, but currently £8.00 on FeelUnique). Want to buy a higher end product for someone without spending the money? Urban Decay is a well known amazing brand which not everyone can afford, so the travel size version of their setting sprays is a great way to go if you don't have the money to spend on their full size products. Their setting sprays are well known for being great and it is bound to receive a thumbs up from your fellow make up lover.

2. Kiko Long Lasting Eyeshadow Stick (£6.90). Eyeshadow sticks are well known as a quick way to apply eyeshadow and they are also good for providing a base for other eyeshadows. Kiko do an amazing range of eyeshadow shades from neutrals to bolds so you're bound to find something here. I own one myself and they are certainly long lasting!

3. Sleek MakeUp i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette (£7.99). Sleek i-Divine eyeshadow palettes are popular for their bargain price and pigmented colours. I have linked you to the 'Storm' palette which is the one I have and use regularly, but there are plenty of others to choose from!

4. Revlon ColourBurst Matte Balm or Lacquer Balm (£7.99). I have two of these and let me tell you, they're great! If you prefer a matte lip you can get the matte balms, but if you prefer shine you can go for the lacquer ones. There is a nice range of shades and I have a matte purple and matte red. Lip crayons are really easy to apply and are great for carrying around in your handbag to top up if necessary. I don't even use a lip brush!

5. Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Instant-Perfecting Power Primer (£10.00). If you're buying for someone who loves being able to try out the latest make up products, this would be a good choice. This primer recently came out and it seems to have pretty positive reviews, so this also may be one for the beauty bloggers out there! I like Soap & Glory make up products in general, plus their packaging with their quirky names always makes an appealing looking gift.

6. Real Techniques Setting Brush (£6.99). Everybody knows Real Techniques do incredible make up brushes, and this is one of the cheaper ones. I have the setting brush and I think it is great for concealer, powder and highlighter. It is super soft and makes a lovely addition to anyone's make up brush collection.

That's it! I hope my suggestions were helpful. Look out for my future gift guides coming soon! :-)
