August Favourites: Beauty, Fashion & TV

I know it's September now but I don't want to miss my August favourites!

At the beginning of August I treated myself to the Zoeva Rose Golden Eyeshadow Palette which I bought from BeautyBay. It arrived next day even though I didn't ask for next day delivery which was pretty cool! But anyway, this palette is a mix of shimmers and mattes and my favourite colour is 'Copper is King'. The quality is great and it is my most used palette of August. I highly recommend it!

Another new item in August for me was Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in 'Lolita'. My brother bought it for me in America and brought it back which definitely gave him extra brother points. I knew it was an extremely popular colour and he said it was always sold out! I have only worn one other lipstick in August and that was only one day: nearly everyday I've worn this lipstick! It is the perfect brown nude and I am relieved I have a back up of it.

My other two beauty favourites are actually make up brushes which I've had for a long time. The Real Techniques Setting Brush has been in my favourites before because of how versatile it is and since then I have found another use for it. In August I ditched my method of applying concealer with my finger and instead used this brush! It applies great and I can pin point spots with the tip of the brush. As for the small Seventeen eyeshadow brush I have been using it for my inner corner highlight. It is the perfect size for getting into your inner corner and I have mostly been pairing it up with the whiter shade in the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. I love adding some light into the corner of my eyes now!

A non-beauty favourite from August is my new bodysuit from River Island. Before I bought this I was apprehensive of bodysuits because they reminded me too much of the annoying leotards I always had to wear for ballet and tap dancing. However, when I saw 'Rock 'n' Roll Stole My Soul' with a huge skull I knew I had to have it. I love clothing with skulls on and I am certainly a Rock 'n' Roll kinda gal! My favourite way to wear this is with my grey skinny jeans with a ribbed effect on the knees from H&M. I wish I had a better photo of this.

My final favourite is a TV favourite which I am pretty sure is in everyone's August Favourites. Can you guess it? Yes, it's Stranger Things! My boyfriend and I binged watched it across 2 days and we cannot wait for season 2 next year. I love the supernatural element of it and the chemistry between the children are fantastic! Normally I find child actors cringey but here I can certainly see their talent. They're lovable on and off screen and Dustin always has the best quotes in the show by far.

Until next time!

My Top 6 Travelling Make Up Favourites

Hey all!

This year has been full of a fair amount of travelling opportunities for me and so I have repeatedly been bringing certain make up products away with me. Because of this I thought I would share with you my top 6 travelling make up favourites and why I think they're perfect for travelling. In addition all the products are hand luggage friendly on the plane and all liquids are 100ml or less.

My first item is the Urban Decay De-Slick Make Up Setting Spray in the travel size. When I'm on holiday somewhere hot, I need my make up to have great staying power more than ever! Me getting hot equals me getting sweaty and this may mean melting and moving make up. But no fear- the Urban Decay setting spray is here! It does a great job in making my make up last and with the temperature control technology it has it is not going to budge on a hot day.

Urban Decay does it for me again with the Urban Decay Naked Basics eyeshadow palette which Emily bought me. This is the perfect compact size for travelling and the packaging isn't breakable. It means that it can survive my hand luggage or suitcase and not break! In addition the colours are perfect neutrals meaning I can make any sort of eye make up with it. Rather than taking lots of eyeshadows with me I instead can take this one eyeshadow which can take me from day to night. I don't think I will ever trust anything else to take travelling with me!

Continuing on from eye make up products, I would like to mention the Seventeen Black Kohl Eye Pencil. I am usually allergic to eyeliner pencils and they make my eyes water like nothing else but for some reason this eye pencil doesn't bother me! But that's not why I like it for travelling. I like it for travelling because it barely takes up any room and can be used in different ways. I like to use it for tight lining as it slides easy without hurting and makes my sparse eyelashes look fuller. This means that if I don't have any mascara on when I am away, at least I can look like I have more eyelashes that I actually have! It is also great for different looks. I can use it across my waterline, on my eyelid, make it strong or smudge it out. Used in conjunction with my Naked Basics palette I can do any sort of look and again take it from day to night.

Let's talk about lipstick. Now I am usually a bold lip kind of girl but when I am on holiday I just want to do my make up as quickly as possible so I can get out and enjoy my holiday. When I was interrailing I had days where I only had an hour to get ready before checking out of our hotel for the next journey so I had no time to fuss around with a bold lip! This is the bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in 'Break Away'. It is a nude lipstick and is glides on with ease with a lovely creamy texture. Nude lips aren't difficult to do and how easy it is to apply this lipstick means I don't have to mess around with the lip shape for ages. Furthermore it lasts quite well through drinking and eating and because it is nude it won't look patchy if it fades either! I don't have to pay much attention to this throughout the day and overall is generally just the easiest lipstick I own. You can tell I use it a lot because there's not much of the bullet left!

For primer I have been bringing along Emite Make Up Diamond Heart Primer which I got from GlossyBox one time. I like bringing this because it is very small so does not take up much space in my transparent liquids bag on the plane, which means more room for more make up! The primer also does not take much time to blend in to the skin and settle so I can get on with the rest of my make fairly quickly which I want when I am away. Not only that but the consistency is light and smooth so doesn't feel like a thick silicone primer on a hot day. The last thing I like about it for travelling is that it the peach tone of it means it helps tone down the redness on my skin. Because of this I can still use this even if I am not wearing make up and tackle evening out my skin tone.

My last travel favourite is the Collection Lasting Perfection Powder. I have been using this powder for years and there are 2 reasons why I like it for travelling. My first reason is that because it is matte it will get rid of shine. When I am on holiday I find my upper lip, chin, middle of forehead and around my nose get shiny. If that happens I can just pull out this matte powder, put it on and the shine is gone! My second reason is the packaging. When you open the lid you get the powder but if you lift up the powder you then have a mirror and flat sponge applicator. This is my favourite mirror to use if I don't have a big mirror (making it good for on the go) and I can do my make up in it. My Urban Decay Naked Basics palette has a mirror but because it is pressed against the eyeshadows when shut it gets covered in pigment. However, in this case the mirror is separate so it is always clean and clear from product. As a little extra tip, the sponge applicator is handy if you get grains of sand on your face! I don't use it for make up application but one time I was on the beach on a windy day and I had sand grains stuck all in my foundation. As you can imagine it was not a good look but I managed to remove it all with this sponge applicator without ruining my make up. Just a little bonus there!

What are some travel friendly make up products that you like?

How I Clean My Make Up Brushes

Hello!

I realised the other day that there might be people out there who come across my blog that are still in the beginning stages when it comes to make up. I have always assumed that people who read my blog would be experts in beauty but now I realise that might not always be the case.

When I bought my first make up brush I had no idea really that I had to clean it, and if so, how? Thankfully I knew about the wonders of blogging back then so I quickly searched how to clean my make up brushes. This is when I found a post written by Zoella where she had shown how she cleans hers. That post was from a while ago!

First of all I get all of my dirty brushes together and take them to the bathroom. It is best to use warm, but not hot water, as I think hot water can melt the glue that sticks the bristles to the brush and make them shed. It is also best to wash the brushes facing down so the water doesn't get into the glue.

I don't use brush cleansers or alcohol to clean my brushes. Instead, I use hand soap! Specifically, I like to use Dove Beauty Hand Wash. I find this soap is soft, creamy and doesn't dry out my brushes. Plus, it will obviously do the job of removing bacteria as it is an antibacterial soap. Perfect for people who suffer with acne like me!

I then put soap over my brush, being sure to cover the main part that touches my face and the edges around it. I will then work the soap in to the bristles using my fingers, adding water bit by bit to lather it up. Next I will work it in to the palm of my hand, swirling the brush to make sure the soap is getting right into the brush and cleansing it.

Afterwards, I will just put it under the running water and gently squeeze it. You want to keep doing this until the water isn't the colour of your make up products any longer and that when you squeeze it no more soap is coming out of it. The water should be clear and non-soapy.

When that is done, I then wipe dry the handle in case any water has gotten on it and then I need to leave it to dry. To make sure none of the water runs into the glue, it is recommended that you let your brushes dry whilst at an angle facing down. What I do is I put a dry flannel over a small container so I can balance the brushes nicely facing down without getting any water on the container. I find that my Real Techniques brush needs 24 hours to dry whilst my eyeshadow brushes takes a lot less time.

I like to wash my brushes once a week. I will normally do it on a Sunday/Monday straight after I have used them. Some people don't like to do it that frequently but I am really cautious of washing my brushes because I am so prone to getting spots. So the less bad bacteria on my brushes, the better!

So yeah, that is my brush washing process. What is yours??

Get Ready With Me

Hey all!

Seeing as my last GRWM post seemed to go down a treat with you guys, (click here if you haven't seen it), I thought I would make another one for you! This day wasn't for a special occasion, just a normal day in the life of me!

Just to say, a lot of the products mentioned in this post I have written reviews on before. To see if I have reviewed them, just click on the product name and it'll take you to the link!

First of all I brushed my teeth and washed my face using my Tea Tree Foaming Cleanser from The Body Shop.

Then it was time for my base make up! In order, I used the BareMinerals Prime Time Primer which I forgot to take a photograph of, Natural Collection Corrector Stick, Collection Lasting Perfection foundation with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer, Collection Lasting Perfection Powder with my Seventeen Face Brush and finally I used the Maybelline Babylips in 'Cherry' on my lips for a hint of colour.

Then the fun bit! I combed through my eyebrows with my BD eyebrow and eye brush and used the Benefit Gimme Brow on them. I then used my Urban Decay palette with my Seventeen eye brushes. I patted 'Walk of Shame' all over the eyelid and in the crease then deepened the crease and outer eye with 'Naked 2'. Finally I applied 'Venus' in the corners of my eyes and on the middle of the lid to brighten them up and make me look more awake. Finally I used the Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara on my lower lashes and the Rimmel ScandalEyes Lyrca Flex Macara on my top eyelashes.

On my nails I had BarryM Aquarium in 'Pacific'.

Then time for clothes! It was kinda warm outside so I put on this 'Occult Star Top' from Heartless Clothing which has various symbols all over it. I love this because it is lose, good with the heat and has a sort of mesh part on the back at the top which gives it even more detail.

On my legs I wore plain black tights from Marks and Spencers.
Because I was wearing tights I wanted to wear shorts underneath the top so I wore my shorts from Banned Clothing/Apparel. I like them because they have candy skulls on the back pockets- sorry I had to take a butt photo for this!

Then, as always, I straightened the middle to end lengths of my hair. I have had the same straighteners since I was like, 12 years old! Too attached to let them go. I don't know their name or even if they sell them anymore but they're from Babyliss.

The last step was to put on The Body Shop Mango Body Mist. I love how this smells- fruity and citrus-y which is perfect for warmer weather!

And that was it! Thank you for reading this photo heavy post! What do you think? Let me know!

Seventeen Nail Clash Collection

Hey all!

This nail art kit was bought for me by my auntie and uncle for Christmas and I thought you guys might like to see what it looks like on the inside and what I think about it. It is like a book and you pull the front open to be greeted by the contents.

On the left side, Seventeen provide different nail art ideas for you try out which I think is quite nice for people who are nail art beginners.

So here are the contents:

These are the 5 nail polishes included inside. One is a silver which I love, a dark glittery blue which I also like, a nice burgundy red, a lighter red and a pale baby pink. I don't like pink nail polish so I will probably give that one away but other than that I would use any of the other polishes. I've never used a nail polish from Seventeen so I cannot tell you if they're good or not.

Here are the nail art stickers. These are great for those who aren't too handy at drawing nail art or those in a rush to do their nails. Although I like the top sheet, I am not particularly fond of the bottom sheet and don't see me using them especially the random '@'s and '#'. I think these are more aimed at a younger audience.

Here are a pot of stars which I think look really nice and I look forward to trying these out!

There are also two nail art pens: a black and a white one. I like nail art pens as they either allow you to use a striper for thin lines or you can take the top off to find another contraption which makes dots. This is a great addition to the kit and again nice for beginners.

I don't normally use glitter pots for nail art unless it is a glitter nail polish so I am not sure if I will use this glitter however I think it is a nice idea. It allows you to put nail glitter on evenly and without too much mess as it has a special nozzle.

To conclude, I think this nail art kit is a good idea but personally not so much for me. I think it would be great for an audience of young 12-15 year old girls who are beginners in nail art and want to put hashtags etc on their nails. Despite this it was nice of my auntie and uncle to buy it for me and I will make use of some of it.

What do you think? Let me know!

June Favourites

Hello! Here are my favourites for June:

  • Max Factor False Lash Effect 24 Hours Mascara. A review will be coming on this soon, but I really needed this mascara this month after I was finding all my other mascaras were smudging on to my my cheek in the heat. This was a life saver!

  •  Boohoo Holographic Boots. I have made a post on these already but these were definitely my favourite purchase from June by far. Love them!

  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I have already made a post reviewing this but I cannot help but talk about it! This is actually a photo of my second bottle as I have finished the first! Great for taking off make up and putting on cotton buds to clean up lines.

  •  Seventeen Miracle Matte Pressed Powder. This powder has already been in one of my favourites posts before but it was an absolute life saver in June. It was so hot in June that I found myself getting a shiny face a lot. But all I needed to do was apply this twice a day and it took the shine straight away! I have reviewed this product before also if you'd like to find it.

That's my favourites for this month! What were yours? Let me know!

March Favourites

Hello BumbleBeas!

My March favourites comes a bit late as it was birthday the other day so it has all been a bit hectic! A big
birthday post will be coming this week. :-)

1. Real Techniques- Expert Face Brush

This is my ultimate favourite for this month and possibly even my favourite of 2014 so far! I am so glad I bought this brush as it applies my foundation wonderfully which gives me more confidence. I would definitely recommend this brush over other ones. To see my full review on it, click here.

2. Seventeen Metallic Cream
I have owned this for a long while now but only started using it at the beginning of March. I like to apply it daily on my eyelids to brighten them! To read my full review, click here.

3 .  American Horror Story
My friend recommended this TV programme to me over a year or so ago and I am so annoyed at myself that it took me so long to watch it! If you like programmes with dark, weird twists then this is the programme for you. It has been described as a horror/erotic horror/supernatural series, but it isn't too 'erotic' before that may put you off! I'll admit it isn't for everyone but I personally absolutely love it and I watched the first series within a day and a half on Netflix. I've heard the other series aren't as good as the first one but I am going to watch them anyway. 10/10!!

4. The Body Shop Tea Tree Night Cream
I have used this product before but somehow stopped using it. But, I fell back in love with it since the beginning of 2014 and once again I use it religiously every night! You put it on before you got to bed and is good for acne and acne scarring. I will write up a full in-depth review on it soon so stay tuned!

5. Collection Lasting Perfection Foundation & Concealer
Although I have been using the concealer for years now, this is the first one I have used since they changed their name from Collection 2000 to Collection, changed the packaging and shades. It as great as it always has been! I never realised they had it in foundation form until recently so when I finally realised I instantly picked it up! It goes so well with the concealer and I feel my make up look so much better with it. I will certainly be buying the lasting perfection powder to complete the collection! (no pun intended)
Full in-depth reviews will be coming soon!

So that is my March favourites! What do you think? Do you use any of these products? Let me know!
