Killstar Wishlist

Hey!

My favourite shop of all time is Killstar because they have a million cool stuff that I want to buy. Unfortunately I am on a student budget, so a girl can stick to making wish lists.

PS- I have linked each item in their names if you want to check them out! :-)

What I Got For Christmas 2017!

Hi everyone!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas (or a great holiday if you don't celebrate)! Today I would like to share with you the presents I received for Christmas. As usual with these type of posts, I would just like to put a disclaimer that I am not trying to brag. I love reading/watching these and find it interesting so thought I would share too!

12 Things People Say To Alternative Girls

Throughout all my teenage years and now my adult life I have always appreciated the darker things in life. I love black, horror, metal, skulls, piercings and tattoos. Some of my friends even jokingly call me the 'Queen of Darkness'. Because of me just being me, I have experienced my fair share of bullying and ignorant comments, so I thought I would turn them into a humorous post you may be able to relate to. This is for you fabulous alternative, gothic and/or metalhead girls.

Mini Killstar Haul

Killstar is a brand I have loved for a few years now. If you were to sum up my style in one word- just say Killstar. Their items always make a statement and provide a talking point. I would quite happily own everything that they do, but unfortunately funds would not allow that!

I recently bought 2 items that I thought I would share with you:

August Favourites: Beauty, Fashion & TV

I know it's September now but I don't want to miss my August favourites!

At the beginning of August I treated myself to the Zoeva Rose Golden Eyeshadow Palette which I bought from BeautyBay. It arrived next day even though I didn't ask for next day delivery which was pretty cool! But anyway, this palette is a mix of shimmers and mattes and my favourite colour is 'Copper is King'. The quality is great and it is my most used palette of August. I highly recommend it!

Another new item in August for me was Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in 'Lolita'. My brother bought it for me in America and brought it back which definitely gave him extra brother points. I knew it was an extremely popular colour and he said it was always sold out! I have only worn one other lipstick in August and that was only one day: nearly everyday I've worn this lipstick! It is the perfect brown nude and I am relieved I have a back up of it.

My other two beauty favourites are actually make up brushes which I've had for a long time. The Real Techniques Setting Brush has been in my favourites before because of how versatile it is and since then I have found another use for it. In August I ditched my method of applying concealer with my finger and instead used this brush! It applies great and I can pin point spots with the tip of the brush. As for the small Seventeen eyeshadow brush I have been using it for my inner corner highlight. It is the perfect size for getting into your inner corner and I have mostly been pairing it up with the whiter shade in the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. I love adding some light into the corner of my eyes now!

A non-beauty favourite from August is my new bodysuit from River Island. Before I bought this I was apprehensive of bodysuits because they reminded me too much of the annoying leotards I always had to wear for ballet and tap dancing. However, when I saw 'Rock 'n' Roll Stole My Soul' with a huge skull I knew I had to have it. I love clothing with skulls on and I am certainly a Rock 'n' Roll kinda gal! My favourite way to wear this is with my grey skinny jeans with a ribbed effect on the knees from H&M. I wish I had a better photo of this.

My final favourite is a TV favourite which I am pretty sure is in everyone's August Favourites. Can you guess it? Yes, it's Stranger Things! My boyfriend and I binged watched it across 2 days and we cannot wait for season 2 next year. I love the supernatural element of it and the chemistry between the children are fantastic! Normally I find child actors cringey but here I can certainly see their talent. They're lovable on and off screen and Dustin always has the best quotes in the show by far.

Until next time!

Boohoo Wishlist: Clothes and Accessories

Boohoo is one of those online shops that I can't stop looking at multiple times every week. I think I probably purchase from there than any other shop at the moment! Let's take a look at the items in my wishlist at the moment:

I like the Jane Strappy Front Bodycon Dress because it has the straps that go across the chest to add an extra sexy detail to the dress. I love this trend at the moment! I originally liked the dress in black but after seeing there's a berry version I think it would go amazing with my hair colour.

Another dress I am liking is Amber Lace Panelled Bodycon Dress. I am a sucker for a little black dress and with the lace panel it ticks every box. I don't have a dress that has a lace panel going across on the front so it would make a nice addition to my LBD collection.

Next we have Megan Lace Up Neck + Shoulder Tee. I actually prefer the black version but the photo of the black one doesn't show up the details which make it so appealing to me. This top has gaps on the shoulders and down the middle with material going through eyelets to give a normal top an alternative feel. I love edgier details like this!

Going on to accessories, I found Ava Chain Strap Day Bag the other day after browsing for potential University bags. The chain going across is what does it for me! It looks like it would fit a lot of stuff in as a day bag.

Lastly is Poppy Two Part Wrap Strap Block Heel. I rarely look at shoes on Boohoo but I need low heels for nights out! I have a pair of high heels that I can barely walk in after an hour and give me blisters so I try to avoid them at all costs. I then have big chunky boots with heels but they don't always go with my dresses. So instead of borrowing my Mum's low heels all the time I need to get my own! The heel on this looks reasonable for me and I love how the straps cross against the ankles which I imagine would give more support when walking in them.

What are you lusting after from Boohoo?

Summer Clothes Haul + Try On ft Boohoo, New Look, Primark & Debenhams

Hello!

I'm doing a post that's a bit unusual for me today and that is a clothes haul and try on post. One of my blog goals is to incorporate more of my clothing into my posts so here we are. As you're reading this I will be away travelling and all of these clothes were bought for that and my upcoming holiday in mind. I needed Summer clothes that would be easy to carry around and wear abroad so here is what I bought!

First we have my first ever playsuit, the Julia Eyelet Detail Suedette Playsuit from Boohoo which I mentioned in my Boohoo Summer in Black post. I wanted a playsuit because they're the whole outfit and would be easy to carry around. I love it! It makes me feel so confident. It is faux suede material with eyelets lacing up the ties in the middle to make a bow. This means that you can have them as pulled together as you want or loser which also allows for various boob sizes!

Another item from Boohoo is the Kaylee Printed Kimono. I wanted this as something more summery to wear abroad as I only really own black cardigans. It is flowy, loose and is light enough to wear abroad whilst keeping your shoulders covered. The background is a off-white with black swirls all over which was my favourite thing about the design.

I then went to New Look and bought these light blue hotpant denim shorts with ripped details. My previous denim shorts are now a size too small for me so I desperately needed to replace them. I don't like shorts that show your bum or shorts that are knee length so these are the perfect shorts for me! I've already been wearing them with tights so I know I'll use them throughout the year.

Another item from New Look is this hat. I've never worn a hat before in my older years as I think they look silly on me but I really wanted a hat to protect my hair colour from fading too much in the sun. Trust me to be more concerned about my hair colour than burning my head! It is a classic black, slightly floppy hat with a thick ribbon around the top. I like it has it gives me gothic, witchy vibes and it'll go with practically anything.

Again from New Look are these black flat shoes. Believe it or not but I actually don't own any comfy flat shoes nor do I own any trainers! I HATE trainers and I only feel comfortable in chunky boots. However, I knew I reluctantly needed to buy some flat shoes for travelling where I'll be walking around all day everyday. It took me ages to find some I liked but I finally found these black ones. They are super comfy and the inside part where your heels sit are so comfy and squidgy that they'll be perfect for walking in! There is no leather material which is good as I won't wear leather and there is a woven pattern which is also a nice detail.

My final item from New Look are bikini bottoms which I am showing with a bikini top that I bought from Debenhams. I needed a new bikini as I only had 1! I first bought the bikini top from Debenhams as Debenhams is the only shop I really for bikini tops. Because of my small boobs not many shops do bikini tops to cater for my size and I also don't like them to show how flat chested I am. Debenhams do fantastic bikini tops for small boobs that add a bit of oomph to them. This black halterneck bikini top has water padding in the boobs to add size to them and the halterneck also gives a plunge effect for the ultimate cleavage. Now that's how I like my bikini tops! My bikini bottom is then from New Look which are high waisted; but my Mum calls them my 'granny pants'. I don't feel comfortable in bikini briefs as they show too much for me so I like bikini shorts and high waisted ones. These have a cut out effect on the sides which I think makes them less like 'granny pants' and look great on! I can also easily roll the top down if I am laying in the sun to avoid higher up tan lines.

After New Look I then headed over to Primark where I found this top. It is a slightly cropped t-shirt with a cat poking out of the pocket as if I had a cat sat in my pocket. I love cats, so I knew I had to get it! What makes it even better is that on the pocket it says 'You've got to be kitten me!' Ah, so punny. When I'm in Amsterdam I am actually visiting a cat cafe so this will be 'purrfect' for then.

That's it! What is your favourite item out my of haul? I won't need to shop for clothes for a while now!

Fashion | Summer in Black: Boohoo Wishlist

I don't know about you, but I love black. Black is my favourite colour to wear, to have in my room and just in general: I love black. So even when it gets sunny and warm, I still wear black! Don't get me wrong I love reds, purples and blues too, but nothing beats black for me. It goes with everything and I find it flattering on my figure.

I've compiled a few items from Boohoo I quite like that I would love to have this year. I've been looking at Boohoo a lot the past few days as I need to start buying summer clothes for my holidays and these are my favourite pieces.

The top two items are playsuits. I've never worn or tried a playsuit before so I want to try some out this year. The first one (Julia Eyelet Detail Suedette Playsuit) is strappy with corset straps across the cleavage; showing a bit of skin. It is faux suede and would great on a night. As for the day I picked Mia Cold Shoulder Crochet Trim Playsuit which is much less fitted and more loose which I think would be great for daytime in the heat. Just remember to suntan those shoulders!

What is summer without denim shorts? Denim is my favourite material for shorts because they're tight and never seem to go out of fashion. I love hot pants to keep my legs cool in hot weather and the rips make it more grungy which I like. These denim shorts (Emma Extreme Frayed Low Rise Denim Hotpant) would look good with a vest top or maybe even a band top!

Finally, we have the cami top. This is something I've not tried before but I can't help but love the strappy part of it! It gives something extra to something basic and the straps seem to be very trendy at the moment. I love the strap effect for it's edginess and addition to detail. As for the cami I feel like it would be good for daytime as it seems to flow out slightly at the ends giving air on a warm summer day. (Bonnie Strappy Neck Woven Cami)

Now I'm not saying wear all black this summer because it attracts the heat and you'll get hot, but wearing something black is a nice way to incorporate bright summer colours into your outfit because you'll always have a colour on that goes with it.

Bristol Fashion Week S/S 2016

About a week ago Emily and I went to Bristol Fashion Week held at The Mall Cribbs Causeway. This was my second time at Bristol Fashion Week, my first time being the 2015 Autumn/Winter show.

Before we went to watch the show we collected our blogger passes. There is a section before the show area where we were given free jars of lemon juice (which were so tasty!) and Kripsy Kreme doughnuts. The show was presented by Denise Van Outen and Mark Heyes this year, with Denise wearing a bright pink dress from River Island. The models' make up was created by Boots No7 whilst hair was styled by Tomlinson Hairdressing.

>Whites

Fashion: Marks & Spencer, Sunglasses: Specsavers.

The first scene was based on Wimbledon. There were plenty of black and white and interestingly headbands with tennis balls on! Not exactly your day to day fashion but a good contextual detail for the runway.

>Floral

Fashion: Hobbs, Menswear: Moss Bros, Children's Fashion: Marks & Spencer, Accessories: Accessorize.

This was a picnic theme. Floral, floaty dresses aplenty with pink and white flowers. The backgrounds of the dresses varied from black to paler backgrounds.

>Denim

Fashion: Fat Face, Footwear: Skechers

Light blue denim dresses with a tie-belt to bring it in at the waist. Blue denim bags and beach bags, bringing the denim to the beach. Would have never thought of denim beach bags!

>Print Mix

Fashion: John Lewis, Sunglasses: Sunglass Hut.

Royal Ascot themed, stripes and flowers appear again. Interestingly there were horizontal and diagonal stripes which I have not seen before in fashion. These stripes were found on dresses, skirts and blazers. There were big hats like you would expect in the races and heels with thin straps going all away across. Overall plenty of monochrome.

>Folk Romantics

Fashions: Jack Wills, Children's Fashion: Marks & Spencer, Jewellery: Pandora, Accessories: Accessorize.

Wedding theme so to be expected there was a lot of white. There were see-through white flower-lace dresses and white shirts for the men. White, thick flower chokers were also worn which I thought was much more light and innocent way of wearing chokers than how you normally see them.

>Model Makeover Winner

Fashion: Coast, Hair: Tomlinson Hairdressing, Make Up: Bobbi Brown.

Every time they have a competition to find normal people to receive a complete makeover and to walk the catwalk. Tonight's lady wore a beautiful silver clutch bag where there was a handle that crossed over the hand in the shape of a bow. I hadn't seen something like that before and thought it was a stunning detail for a clutch bag! She also wore a two-piece where the crop top was silver and incredibly glitzy with a long, pale green and white skirt. She looked gorgeous!

>Stripes

Fashion: Joules, Footwear: Crocs.

This was Henry Royal Regatta themed. I spotted a vibrant orange structured bag which I particularly liked and there were red and blue striped beach bags. Another outfit that really caught my eye was a royal blue jumpsuit with dark pink flowers. Such a statement outfit!

>Street Style

Fashion: Warehouse, Menswear: New Look, Footwear: Soletrader.

There were black and white checks which I am personally quite the fan of! A holographic bag caught my eye so I am eager to go find it! Again there was more denim which was fashioned in the style of a cardigan; seemingly a more relaxed way of wearing denim.

>Boho

Fashion: Marks & Spencer, Accessories: Accessorize.

So much terracotta colours with camel and orange. These shades screamed sand to me and seemed great for a trip to the beach. White flowers also made an appearance.

>Colour Burst

Fashion: John Lewis.

This scene was close to home as it was Bristol Balloon Fiesta themed. Inspired by the hot air balloons the colours were certainly bright and bold. No patterns, just block colours. Definite statement colours such as red, green and yellow. Also spotted a cape jacket which seems like something loose for covering for your shoulders which would seem good for the summer when you want to cover your shoulders.

>Short and Sassy

Fashion: New Look

My favourite name for a scene! As the name suggests, there were short, tight dresses which were in the lovely colour of pastel blue. There was also a floral two piece crop and long skirt which were again tight fitting. Seemed lovely for nights out. The men were wearing the standard baseball shirts.

In conclusion, what's on trend for Spring/Summer this year is clear: stripes and floral. However, the stripes are changing up a bit this year as the stripes are going diagonal! I have never seen that before but Mark did inform us that companies have stayed clear of that pattern before due to it being more expensive to make. Light blue wash denim also seems to be a prominent feature whether in the form of jackets, dresses or bags. My favourite was definitely the royal blue jumpsuit with the flowers as it was so beautiful looking and stood out amongst anything anyone else was wearing! A lot of the bags were catching my eye as well and I feel now that I really want to go and buy a new beach bag for my travels. I was also interested in how they had made white flower chokers. I love chokers but when I think of chokers I think of black plastic chokers or velvet ones which seem more dark and edgy. Despite loving that look I was pleasantly surprised at how they could make chokers more for people who don't like that daring look and can make them look so light.

What are your favourite pieces to wear in Spring/Summer?

PS- Credit for the photos go to Charlotte Stone, Gina Jones and The Mall Cribbs Causeway. Photos 2, 3, 6 and 13 (basically the crap quality photos!) are my own.

Marks & Spencer Blogger Event

Last Thursday, Emily and I went to a Marks & Spencer blogger event which was on after the Bristol Fashion Week show (post coming soon!).

On arrival we were greeted by the team who gave us the run down on what we could do. We were given food and drink of theirs to try out too where I chose a pina colada juice and a little chocolate cake which was very nice! They had plenty of different flavoured crisps to try and other cakes. It seems Marks & Spencer do a lot of snacks in which I haven't even heard of before!

After looking at the food and drink on a little summer display, we looked at the make up they had on display. They had a display of the new Rosie for Autograph make up range which I had been hoping to see at the event because I have seen so many bloggers talking about it. Can we just talk about the packaging?! The rose gold makes it look so luxurious and more expensive than it actually is! My favourite was the collection of make up brushes.

There were also other plenty of beauty brands on display including Autograph fake tan, Eyeko, Stila, BarryM, the famous Bourjois liquid lipsticks and a GlamGlow mud face mask. Some of these products I had only ever seen online before so it was fun finally seeing them in the flesh! One of the members of staff tried the GlamGlow masks on the back of our hands which smelled like green tea and were supposed to make your skin glow. It felt nice and made me wish I could afford to buy GlamGlow products!

Another option was to get a mini manicure done which I thought was so cute! I was a bit annoyed with myself because I had quickly painted my nails before leaving for the event and had I known they were doing mini manicures I would have gotten one done there! They seemed to have lots of vibrant Summer colours to choose from.

The last part of the event was to look at clothes they were bringing out for their Summer style. There were these pale blue and white striped pyjamas I really liked and they had lots of floral and white. They set them up on display really nicely by hanging them at the top of their fitting room doors. Their fitting rooms are quite aesthetic so it certainly helped sell their fashion.

The event was lovely and the staff were welcoming. They were all very nice and they spoke to us all and had a chat. At the end they even gave us goody bags which was generous of them! The goody bags included all brands I had never tried before so I am looking forward to using them. Admittedly I never used to go in Marks & Spencer much before but now I feel more inclined to go in there more as they were friendly and had lots of things that I liked.

  • Fake Bake Amplify Daily Gradual Tan, Rosie for Autograph Amazing Radiance Cream, Dr. Hauschka Facial Toner, Dr. Hauschka Revitalising Day Cream, Autograph Eyeshadow Palette, Living Proof Nourishing Styling Cream, Nuxe Detoxifying an Youth Revealing Anti-Aging Care, Nuxe Multi-Purpose Dry Oil Face, Body & Hair and Nuxe Body 24hr Moisturising Body Lotion.

  • L'Occitane: Dry Skin Hand Cream, Cooling Hand Cream Gel, Roses Hand and Nail Cream and 2 Hand Soaps.

Thanks Marks & Spencer!

Fashion | The Faux Fur Coat

At the beginning of last year I didn't really think much of the faux fur coat trend. If anything, I thought they were a bit over the top looking. Yet nearer the end of the year I started to really like how it looked so my Mum got me one for Christmas.

This is the black faux fur shawl collar coat from New Look. It was originally £44.99 but is currently on sale at £25.99. It is the black version and isn't a long fur coat as it sits on your hip. You have the option of having it open or you can do it up with 3 hidden hooks on the inner part of the material.

I love and adore this so much. It is SOOOO warm! I love being able to snuggle up in this when I have to face the cold weather and it really does help to keep me insulated. I have also been known to have it over me as a blanket inside and rest my head into the fur collar.

I also love how much it brings to an outfit. I could just be wearing a simple jeans and top combo and this coat would just bring some edginess and what I like to call 'sassiness' to it. But my favourite way to wear it though is with leggings. I currently like to pair it with these wet look leggings with zips on the knees and boots with buckles which really gives me the biker/rocker vibe. It is also lovely with a tight fitting dress and it does admittedly make you feel quite confident.

In terms of sizing, I am normally a size 10 and I found that the size 10 fit me fine. I did consider going up to size 12 but it looked slightly too bulky on me. My Mum also bought my sister one but we decided to go up a size because her normal size would have been too tight around her chest. So if you have a bigger chest ladies, it may be worth going up a size!

I will say though that if you are going to have a coat like this then you need to check the weather forecast beforehand. You don't want to be caught in the heavy rain with this on because the fur gets soaked and you have no hood! Also, you will get the occasion hair that sheds. It isn't loads which can be annoying but you will notice one or two hairs (which always somehow seem to end up stuck to my face).

I'm really feeling the faux fur coat trend and I hope it stays because I am so down with that! Do you own a faux fur coat?
