MAC | Sin Lipstick

I swatched this lipstick on my trip to Dublin so when I got home I bought it straight away! This is MAC Sin. It is a matte lipstick and on the MAC website is described as a 'deep dark blue red'. In my own words, I would describe it as a dark, bold brown with hints of of a dark red.

This lipstick just screamed my name! I am a lover of a dark, bold lip so this colour is very me. I mostly only wear matte lipsticks as it is my favourite finish and it is certainly very matte.  I love how it looks on my lips and I like to wear it when I'm channelling my 'inner goth'. It would certainly be a great colour for Winter and Autumn, however I would certainly wear this all year round.

Unfortunately it does have some downfalls. It takes so long to apply!! It is a very dry texture as I do find with MACs very matte lipsticks. This means it kind of drags on your lips and probably wouldn't do so well on dry lips. Also, because of the colour you need to make sure you apply carefully because if you mess up the outline of your lips then it takes a lot to correct. I don't use a lip liner with this but I am certainly considering buying one for this to make application easier. It is probably the lipstick that takes me the longest to apply as you've got to get the shape perfect. A lip brush is your best friend with this! My other negative is that it is a lipstick you need to keep an eye on during the day for maintenance. If I eat or drink I lose a lot of the colour on the sides of my upper lip which is very obvious with such a dark colour. It's alright on my lower lip but you will need to reapply around the sides of your mouth.

Despite it being a high maintenance lipstick, I still love it and do not regret buying it. It is one of my favourite colours to wear on my lips and I find myself always wanting to look at it! If you don't mind a bit of maintenance and have time available to you so you can take time to apply it right, then this lipstick is totally worth it. A steady hand is needed and practice makes perfect. It wouldn't be one you could apply quickly when you're running late but it would be the one to make a statement and bring your make up look together.

Do you love a dark, bold lip? I do no matter what time of the year!

May Favourites

Hello!

It's that time again! I have only got 3 favourites this month which is less than what I usually have but nevertheless they're my favs!

*I have written reviews on all of these favourites in the past, so to see what I think of them click on the product names which will take you to the review I made on it.

First of all, we have the Barry M Aquarium Collection nail polish in 'Pacific'. I absolutely love this nail polish and have been wearing it for 2 weeks straight now. I love it because it is a beautiful dual-chrome petrol blue colour that is super long lasting and is overall stunning.

Secondly, I have been loving MAC 'Lady Danger' lipstick. This is the second MAC lipstick I have owned and I have been wearing it a lot this month as I think it's the perfect Spring/Summer lipstick.

Thirdly, and lastly, is the famous Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 'Everlasting Navy'. I have had this for a year and it has been in my favourites before but it is back in my favourites now because I love using it for an eyeliner. With an angled brush I apply this along the lash line and it works brill as a pop of colour lining the eyes.

Those are my favourites! What were your favourites for the month of May? Let me know!

MAC | Lady Danger

Hey!

I got a gift card for MAC for my birthday which I was excited about and with it I bought the matte lipstick 'Lady Danger' for £15.50

Lady Danger is a matte, vibrant orange-toned red. Sometimes I think it is just an orange and sometimes I feel it is an orange-toned red. Either way, it is a fantastic bold lip colour that's something a bit different from the standard red which isn't for the faint hearted!

One thing I found with this lipstick is that it's best applied with a lip brush. With MAC Ruby Woo I found I could apply it fine with or without a brush, but with Lady Danger I just can't do it just out of the bullet. It is much easier to make the perfect outline with a lip brush. However, that doesn't put me off!

I haven't worn Lady Danger out yet but I did test it out at home. It is certainly long-lasting and doesn't fade at all, even if you eat (I had a plate of chips and curry sauce) which is delight. This means it would probably be alright to wear out when you might be eating and only need a small touch up.

Because of the orange-toned boldness it would probably be something that would have to go with your outfit. However I think it is a great lipstick for the warmer months when you want to make a statement! It does feel slightly dry on the lips seeing as it is a matte but not so drying to the point that it looks bad on the lips and feels uncomfortable.

Overall I really like this colour and how it is long-lasting. I would recommend!

MAC, New Look & Yankee Candle Haul

Hey!

As mentioned in my book haul (click here), I went shopping last Monday and these are the rest of the things that I got.

Firstly I went to MAC Cosmetics in Debenhams and got myself 'Lady Danger' lipstick with a gift card from a friend. It is an orange/red in your face lipstick that isn't exactly for the faint hearted. I of course will review this soon!

I then went to Yankee Candle. I don't buy candles for myself but because I knew it was my step-sister's birthday coming up and that I know she likes candles I bought 'Mango Peach Salsa' and 'Turquoise Sky'. I loved them for their smells and vibrant colours I thought would go well with the Spring/Summer seasons.

Finally, I went to New Look. I needed new sunglasses as a couple of months ago I managed to spill acetone over my sunglasses and ruined them! I was so gutted because I loved them. However, I managed to find a matching pair in New Look even though mine were from last summer! They have round lenses with a thicker black rim which I know isn't to everyone's tastes but I love them. It is also my sister's birthday coming up so I bought her a small baby pink bag with a lace pattern and a gold clasp and chain. It isn't something I would ever buy for myself admittedly but the material is lovely feeling and it is a pretty girly bag which I know my sister would like for special occasions and nights out. I also spotted a flower bracelet which, again, I wouldn't buy for myself but thought it was beautiful and something my sister would like.

What do you think? Let me know!

April Favourites

Hey!

It's that time of the month again! So what were my favourites from April?

MAC | Ruby Woo

Behold- my first ever Mac Cosmetics product! For my birthday my friends kindly bought me this Mac 'Ruby Woo' lipstick and I instantly fell in love. I have been wanting a Mac lipstick for a long while but I never felt like I owned enough money myself to justify spending £15.50 on a lipstick. But I finally have one!

The packaging is so sleek and beautiful. As everyone knows about Mac lipsticks it comes in a stunning little black bullet with silver on the part that you use to twist up the lipstick. It is gorgeous, easily recognisable and gives that 'high end' feeling.

As for the colour, it is incredible as you can see below:

It is a classic red that really is the perfect matte colour. It's for those days when you want that classic, bold red lip that make a statement pin up girl style. I adore this colour!

And this is what it looks like at night-time:
So what about the formula? Well, it glides smoothly on your lips and gives you a strongly pigmented statement. With the help of a lip brush or a lip liner you can achieve the perfect lines that make your lips stand out from the crowd. I wore this lipstick when I went out for a meal on my birthday and the colour stayed on well no matter what I ate or drank. It is one of those lipsticks that will stay on all through the day and would probably only need topping up once.

I have read reviews that have said that this lipstick is quite drying but I disagree. It is a matte lipstick so it obviously isn't the most moisturising of lipsticks but I don't find that it dries out my lips or clings to any dry bits on my lips.

Overall I am really smitten with this lipstick and it is my ultimate favourite right now. I love having any excuse to wear it!

Have you got Ruby Woo? What do you think? And what was your first Mac product? Let me know!
